As one of the number of TQ lovers out here I’m glad I could join the community this time more actively I hope.
As a favourite skill trees from TQ I would separate Storm and Defense and pretty much all of their combinations. I mostly played either as an Elementalist or Paladin.
About elementalist it was all about ice shards, mana regen and cast speed (and all of the other various tricks up the sleeve :)) And for my Paladin build I went for something I like to call active/reactive build because every enemy action might cause a reaction :). That means I focused on all the items and all the skills that had % chance to reflect damage or % chance to issue an effect (like storm surge for example). If anything the more enemies the merrier it got
Looking at Grim Dawn Soldier skill tree I have to say that as it did combine pretty much the best from Warfare/Defense I will still miss the skills like Rally. But all in all soldier is more like the defender then warrior. Just hope that arcanist will be more like stromcaller so I can again start with my “don’t hurt me because you will hurt yourself” build
The Arcanist, upcoming mastery, will have some elemental attacks and plenty of casting abilities.
Otherwise there are Reflect Damage affixes and the Nightblade has 1 skill that gives a lot of reflect damage. That and there are quite a few retaliation options as well.
Demolitionist also has vindictive flame and it’s upgrade which is a “hit me and this aoe fire damage proc goes off which shoots lightning bolts at enemies that are outside of the fire aoe”. This has a 2 second cooldown I believe, also there are a lot of items with great skill affixes.
I know about the arcanist and that’s why I cant wait :). The still fresh memory of my Ice Shard fanatic (as my firends used to call him) with something close to 280% cast speed, over 100 energy regen per sec and 4000 mana pool was still able to empty the pool in 10 seconds :). They compared the effect with the MG42 machine gun.
Pretty much as long as arcanist again focuses more on cold and lighting I’m more then happy. There is nothing better knowing you’re enemies are frozen from outside and melting on the inside. Fingers crossed for a frozen pet.
Not sure on the pet from what I’ve gleaned of the localization files (though things may chance), however we will be getting other items that can summon more pets.
Plus we may see a more summon based mastery in a future expansion.
