Yes this was talked about. That although Desolator is Amazing you need some extra support.
i think after this Z added +FS to Combustion band and maybe some other items. But i’m not usre if he’s done with it or not
You could probably adapt Mageslayer or Bonemonger for Elemental melee. The Shattered Realm set is pretty versatile as well but I’d only consider it as a last resort. I’ll concede that none of these are perfect :p.
The other thing is you don’t have to use a set in Grim Dawn to make a viable build. Still plenty of good individual pieces out there for Elemental melee, weapons in particular.
Honestly I find it silly that the only decent option for a 2H ranged fire FS build is a set that is explicitly build around melee, in that it has melee only passives and only has skill mods for melee skills or those unsuitable for FS builds.
And as said above Ulzuin was far better then Desolator + Justice for FS.
For my in the future wishlist, I’d like to see some of the remaining 100% damage conversions get their FX updated. Fire damage Dreeg’s Evil Eye and the Blitz damage conversions for instance. Also, the remaining lightning effects for things like Torrent and the Temporal Arcblade could use an update. I would love to build around that 2H, but I really dislike the way the Aether Conduit proc looks.
Overall though, a great patch which has opened up a number of different build possibilities for me.
I play with Xbox controller and the UI is working exactly the same way as it did before the patch. So I think something wonky must be going on in your particular game.
Weird that the change log doesn’t mention it. I looked over it twice, but maybe I still missed it.
You’re right that I do have a modified scheme that I made with Steam. I’d recommend that to everybody anyway, if for nothing else so you can re-assign the D-pad UP button to a skill instead of personal rift. IMO it’s much more valuable to have that extra button for a skill you use on a regular basis, instead of having a shortcut to a personal rift, which you’re not using all the time. When I need to throw down a rift, I just bring up the character menu and use LS to move the hand to the rift icon and press A. I could maybe see a hardcore player needing a dedicated rift button, but otherwise to me it’s much better to have an extra skill button instead.
I also gained an additional two skill buttons by re-assigning LS-click and LT. Weapon swap is completely unnecessary, and stationary attack is pointless when playing with controller.
One thing that did change is now I can’t use the D-pad to select dialog responses anymore. Not a fan of that change, but it’s a minor thing.
This is a great update. My Cabalist is happy that she can now do a proper Passion Play with 12 Skeletons!
Also the Ulzuin changes already made me want to start a build focused on HUUUUGE explosions. I think I will call him Warpath.
And the new updated spell effects are gorgeous. Here are a few!
Anyone has a list of which transmuted skills have new graphics now?
I also noticed Maiven’s Sphere is no longer always active around you, more like hums into effect every now and then, otherwise being just a set of symbols shimmering in the air… I much prefer it to the old hamster ball graphic.
How are all those Canister Bomb modifications, and a skill that is basically a Bloody Pox’s fire variant that triggers on attacks, and ANOTHER triggered skill that lowers enemy resistence and is triggered on attacks, melee oriented? Ulzuin’s set is very very much 2-handed ranged oriented.
Like, this patch came out what, less than 1.5 months after the expansion? Maybe don’t base your life aka builds around the new items yet. Or you forgot how much changed after the second expansion too in patches?
He was talking about Justicar, not Ulzuin. Justicar passives only activate with a melee weapon and a shield being held, meaning 2H ranged builds don’t benefit from them. I think it was high time these passives worked with ranged, but it’s my opinion.
Ah, okay! I thought this was about Ulzuin.
I dunno why anyone ever considered the Justicar armor for a ranged build. It even LOOKS like one of those super heavy full plates mounted knights wore in the medieval times. And its bonuses are all pretty much for melee builds. Why would anyone want to use a set that grants Forcewave and Blitz bonuses for 2handed ranged…
Which was my point, the only reason I use it is cause there are no good alternatives for 2H fire FS now that the Ulzuin set gone.
You need it the defenses(armor and DA) and the flat fire damage it gives.
And do not get me wrong I’m no longer arguing for Ulzuin to be changed back. Like you said the set is good (its only lacking some energy regen) and turning it back after this patch would be a rather awkward move.
I simply hope that ranged 2H fire FS will be better supported by gear in the future as IMO that should be pretty normal build for a Demolitionist.
