Grim Misadventure #136 - Enter the Korvan Plateau

Wow very nice environment!
Seems full of secrets awaits…

Looks beautiful!

dragons confirmed

Looking GOOD guys! Can’t wait. Must say I would like to see a massive sea of gigantic dunes with some hidden and ruined temple/pyramid stuff.

But still, Excellent job!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Really liking the Oasis and Canyon pics (good place for an ambush)

The ruins in that lighting remind me of the ones from Varant desert in Gothic 3

Nice, the architecture reminds me a bit of a mix of the Temple of Kharnak and also Crete. And like seeing so many new type of plants, from palm trees to acacia. The reddish sandstone looks beautiful too.

The Oasis screenshots…damn. Crate know they target audience

Im afraid no fantasy dragons as Z mentioned, however Im hoping for a larger giant trex sandclaw. The quest boss at the top of East marsh could use some larger and much more threatening form too.

Coconut tree is the best thing that ever happened in GD so far
A bunch of alligators in those lake would be nice

I’m with you about rock surface’s textures on pic #3 and #4 , they look more like piles of rocks with over up-scaled than desert cliffs :frowning:
That being said, I think they still look beautiful though.

Pumped!

i´m really speachless. This is so beautiful. Thank you Crate youre awesome. Please take all my money.

If I remember my rocks correctly they look more like the kind of outcrops you get in parts of Africa. Basalt I think? Or some other metamorphic rock, not something sedementary like sandstone that weathers so much more easily.

Kind of like a mix between basalt columns (Giant’s Causeway) and those African outcrops. Or Uluru/Ayer’s Rock - though I don’t think that’s basalt.

Source?

@Dio I think it’s the lighting. The same assets are being used #2 and #5 if I am not mistaken

Looks like it is character from “Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?”.

I actually love that ‘polished’ feeling to the rock formations. And as a rock-climber myself, I would say that it is not unusual to see very polished and round shapes like such in sandstones or granitic formations.

I can understand that it might look cartoonish to some people to an extent, but that conveys a particular atmosphere that contrasts with the usual dangers of cairn.
That atmosphere also makes sense as this place has probably not being affected as much by the Grim Dawn, as there are little to none humans that might attract Aetherials’ attention. It feels more ‘preserved’.

It doesn’t look like an oppressing and merciless environment at first sight, quite the contrary, it’s the local monstrosities that have been roaming the place for centuries that make it dangerous.
And I really like that duality.

A more broken and jagged type of rock would also fit the world, but would be more similar to what we have already seen so far in terms of atmosphere. I like the feel of those places a lot.

Those bootypalm and coconut tree…
Check it out!

ActII TQ, from Diablo2: It would be a fault of Crate if they change their paradigm. GrimDawn had been planned to be the spiritual successor of the 1st Diablo (even more so than the 1st Torchlight). If Crate starts to make ambiance of D2, it is a step back. Okay, TitanQuest wanted to be the ancient-fantastic successor of D2, so the dangerous limit is tenuous between bad D2 comeback and good TQ winks. Beware Crate!

Can we have a cocoshaker quest ?

These maps look amazing cant wait for this expansion to drop!

Where did they say that the game was to be a “spiritual sucessor of the 1st Diablo”?
