So shields just might stop being boring? Or might become meta again after adding rifts.
YES! Gimme more shields! More!!
So, this is Grim Dawn’s equivalent (or unique take) of a Priest archetype?
Not bad.
Fans of TQ’s Defense have been clamoring for shield WPS for awhile now so it’s awesome that they finally get it.
So far this mastery looks pretty good.
Can’t really tell what’s happening in that wallpaper though. Is that just a super bright halo around the shield or is the entire exterior surface of the shield illuminating? It’s said that during a total solar eclipse it’s still not safe to look directly into the sun, so I guess that wallpaper sort of makes sense.
Finally!!
Autobuy for sure!

Is this the fabled SHIELD mastery?!
Oathkeeper looks badass, love the shield throw! Definitely trying out this mastery first once Forgotten Gods is released.
doesn’t do cold damage, not interested
…
Okay this looks really fun. I like that it has a more traditional fantasy feel to it as opposed to the technological leaning of Inquisitor and Demolitionist, and between those 3 classes we should have some pretty great options for a fiery paladin type character (always wanted to make one of those).
Guys, I found out about a secret co-promotion between Crate and a well-known purveyor of breakfast cereal (the cooked kind). Here’s the leaked image I found:
One of the more exciting products they’ll announce is the Oatkeeper, a specialised container for storing even the most devout of rolled grains.
HHHNNNNNNNNNNNNNNggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Hmm. super retaliation tank with soldier, or super
Physical, fiery Badass with demo? Those will be my choices heh.
Really? 27th July stream:
“Spikenik9 :and in GD2 do we get to meet the FG loading screen guy?
Actually I hope we can get the FG loading screen guy into FG.”
Man, I’m so excited I can’t even handle it. This entire post got better with each paragraph. Nearly lost my entire mind at the new mechanic adding the retaliation stat to attacks. Finally something to take down those pesky ranged units! Better freaking believe that’ll be my first character after the release.
In the Grim Misadventure it talks of the Oathkeepers siding with different gods. So with an Oathkeeper will you be able to choose different god’s to serve when choosing the character and thus get access to different damage types through your skills?
I see you still can’t tell when I’m joking
Highly unlikely that Crate will introduce some new UI elements just for this. I think there’s a simpler way to do this. It’s been used by other masteries for a similar purpose.
Oathkeeper + Soldier = Templar (Templar seems to be associated with Menhir and only Soldier has skills with Menhir)
Oathkeeper + Occultist = Sentinel (mainly because of the Sentinel within the Temple of the Three, so I would assume it has to be associated with the Witch Gods)
Oathkeeper + Inquisitor = Paladin (Oathkeeper seems to have a skill called Judgment and Inquisitor has Aura of Conviction, so acting like some judge, jury and executioner)
This sounds really sweet. Looks nice and great. I will have to restrain myself from starting several new characters without actually delving deeper into the development of one when FG comes out. Stupid Altitis, but there are soooo many nice combinations to test.
The only thing is, I was really hoping for a sword and pistol dual wield class. That would have been so nice, but propably impossible with engine restraints.
Love it how it’s a zealot who simply sticks to his/her code doesn’t matter which diety.
Now the question is what char to solo mastery level in preparation?
Soldier, Demo, Shaman and Occulist all seem good for synergy with retaliation for some wicked retaliation builds! Inquisitor could also prove interesting (with the hint an oath keeper may also used ranged)
I think I’ll go soldier and hoping on an updated Dawnbreaker set.
And occulist for Dreegadin!
quadruple blitz confirmed!
Engine is something Crate can upgrade, the question is in feasibility. While this kind of pirate playstyle could be fun for action games like skyrim, darksouls or bloodborn,
but based on my experience with such mechanic in Torchlight 2 it’s pretty boring - basically 1h ranged with offhand but switch to 1h melee with offhand when in melee.
Sword and pistol is a rather pointless mechanic, because if you’re using a pistol with your character, you’re pretty much focusing on a ranged playstyle by default, and will hardly even feel the need to use melee with said character, plus you could aways use weapon swap, if you actually felt the need to go melee anyways…
no, please no more classes. This is as complete as GD1 can be interms of total masteries. In terms of future updates, Id rather have them give us item packs or rogue dungeons, less effort for them. Or better have them reveal their second game. Guys deserve a break after crafting the paladin;)
