Grim Misadventure #31: Nightblade Mastery Pt.1

Ah, while all the blade skills seem to be very interesting (obviously, with such a name ^^), I am a little sad to see that, as I thought, this mastery won’t be very good for improving ranged attacks :frowning:
I might be among the very fews who is disappointed with the ranged attack synergy of the Soldier: I guess I was expecting something closer to the archer in TQ (bullets going through enemies, being able to shoot 3 at once…).
Hence while I mainly play melee characters, way more fun…And that’s exactly where this Nightblade character becomes interesting!

Great update.

I much prefer the quick and deadly classes to the tanky ones.

Guns are lacking aoe, sometimes I wish they can do multishots or 3 burst per shot as a skill.

Pneumatic Burst might work well with a ranged character if you have a good gun that has a skill on it such as the lightning strike or perhaps that ice bolt skill that can pierce enemies. The increase to attack speed, chance to evade attacks, cold damage/pierce damage increase and health regeneration might make this quite useful. Phantasmal Blades might also be useful since it looks to be a ranged skill though perhaps you’d need to equip actual melee weapons in order to use it (my guess is you can use it with any weapon since they seem to be like daggers that you conjure up and attack enemies with).

I think going ranged is a bit more challenging since your projectiles collide with enemy projectiles while melee characters can just run in, take the damage and not worry about enemy attacks blocking your attacks like ranged. This is just comparing melee weapons with ranged weapons, I’ll have to see when this class comes out and if any changes will be made with ranged.

This is part 1. Part 2 comes mid Oct. Hmm…

Looks like patch won’t happen in Oct?

Highlight of my day! If not for this update, today would have been truly sour. :undecided: Reverse!

Loving the artwork on both the mastery picture and the skill icons (they’re blue!!!). The dual-wielding skill has HOW many modifiers?! Badass, I say! Also glad that this mastery has some independent passives, like the soldier does. (I think that this is something the Demolitionist and Occultist masteries could use more of, and hoping that the Arcanist will have some that increase spirit/energy/energy regen by x%).

Now to guess what all of the skills are/could be! Where is Shadow Strike…:stuck_out_tongue:

I think the Alpha released before the misadventures for all three “starter” masteries were finished, so it’s possible that we’ll get a game update including this mastery before part 2 is released.

This sums up what I was thinking all the while reading this epic update! Added chaos damage with modifiers? Life leech? Poison damage? (One of the icons has the color of poison, which given the assassin-y nature of this class would make sense) Hell yeah!:smiley:
Thanks for another fantastic update Zantai, and just when I thought nothing could top the recent batch of new item art!
Cheers,
Younghappy

Edit: Like Xeilua, I too love both the color of the mastery (oh that blue!) and the snippet of class art we can see on the skills page - can’t wait to see the full thing!

sweeeeet, been waiting to hear more on the nightblade. Definitely the first thing I wanna try as well as soldier masteries!

great looking class indeed. The thought of a Soldier/Nightblade is exciting to say the least.

Can’t wait for next Build!!

Misadventures have no relation to our release schedule, so I wouldn’t base any assumptions on their timing. We’re trying to get the next update out this month. Whether that happens is yet to be seen.

That is fantastic. Let me bring Murphy to the pub this weekend so he wouldn’t go bothering you guys.

Even though I was attempting to present the same idea, it didn’t really come out right and ended up sounding a bit too hopeful, I suppose. Apologies for any confusion!

this is an update i’ve been waiting for a long time

Nightblade seems to be a deadly mastery, i’m very impatient to see these skills in action !

So your telling me I can Titan Quest Warfare all over again?

HUZZAH!

Want!

No worries, I understood that, I just replied to your post because it was the latest one on that topic. I was just adding to what you’d said.

I just noticed something cool, in my opinion. It seems that the swords seen in the Phantasmal Blades icon heavily resemble an epic sword: the Lightning Rod! Here’s a comparison:

Shocking, right?! (Bad pun achieved!) If the models are indeed the same, I’m cool with flinging Lightning Rods everywhere - hopefully the monsters will have some resistance! (Somebody stop me!)

Alright, cool. Wouldn’t want to upset the head of the operation, haha!

I just love rogue classes - in Titan Quest my favorite class was Warrior/Rogue or even Defender/Rogue

Ooooh, I think I’m gonna love playing this mastery

Awesome class. Looking forward to playing this in combo with soldier.
Melee >> ranged anytime.
