Grim Misadventure #99: Introducing the Crucible

It seems to be a lot of text…

Lol, must be. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been sitting here for like an hour refreshing the page

Anyone else checking every 5 minutes the forums to see the new Grim Misadventure?

cough cough

*yaaaaaaaaaaaawn

@Sanlucifer : actually they already came.

I’m glad to spend my summer in a country that is further West than my home. That is fewer hours to wait

It was 2016 when forum regulars crashed the GD servers, having outdone even the nightly spambot hordes.

Who uses his fingers in 2016? There is AutoHotKey!

Because I don’t want to lose

Finger usage isn’t entirely outdated yet ya know?

Actually, Zantai is at loss of words, because this is the 100th Grim Misadventure, so he needs more time to make this Misadventure a memorable one. :stuck_out_tongue:

I should have read the first post better to avoid any silly questions this late, but I couldn’t find any answers about this anywhere:

In the Crucible, death marks the end (especially true for Hardcore players). Every 10 waves of enemies, you have to make a difficult choice: continue on for the next 10 encounters for a chance of greater reward, or cash out what you’ve earned and not risk your own demise.

Should you perish, you cannot continue and the treasure will be reduced substantially.

What does “death marks the end” mean? Let’s say I decide to continue after wave 10 and I die, with a normal character (no hardcore).
Does that mean I restart at wave one?
Or is really “the end”? As of the crucible gets locked for that character and I need to restart from the beginning with another one?

Also, what if I decide to stop at wave 10?
Does that mean I can restart later at wave 10 (for a lesser reward)?
Or I’ll have to restart at wave 1 no matter what, until I reach level 100 or I die?
Does that mean that we need to reach wave 100 in one session to unlock the next difficulty level? Boy, that’s gonna take some time!

So yeah, I’m quite :confused::confused::confused::smiley:

If you die, the current event ends, but you can restart at wave #1. If you advance you will eventually unlock a checkpoint for that session, so that you can restart at a higher wave.

Also each difficulty has 150 waves. Defeating wave 100 “only” unlocks the next difficulty (of 3) in the Crucible.

Ah, ok, thanks for clarifying!

I purchased the game back with 1.0.0.2 and we were promised a free expansion. Considering it took me about 2 days to beat the vanilla game and I couldn’t mod anything that I wanted to mod, I’m kind of pissed. :furious: No DLC for me, I’ll just recommend people pirate the game in the future I think.

If you are implying that this is the expansion, then no, it’s not the expansion. The expansion is still coming with a new act and new masteries. The Crucible is just an alternate game mode.
