yes this would be interesting to know, but I also suspect that the host will be the one that will effect the town? but an answer to this would be interesting and good to know
Phenomenal. Look forward to bringing everyone and everything back to Devil’s Crossing haha.
World progression sounds very-VERY Cool!
Keep up da H Quality work!
You earned another BiG glass of bier!
Yes, you can also use this feature to “downgrade” a place - not necessarily to lose a prior upgrade, but let something bad happen:
- Monsters on a rampage damage the iron defenses, so that Aetherials can invade.
- Some cultist manages to enter a refuge and summons a Chthonian squad. You defend the place and hunt retreating forces down, before they can spread the news where surviving humans have hidden. If this is a concern at all …
In any case damage is done and needs to be repaired - if for the better or the worse has to be seen.
I find it a bit difficult to prefer one person over the other. In times like these, people just move a bit closer and do not desert others. I see where you are coming from. This would work better for factions:
- The faction you chose over the other sends a few people to DC Prison or any other town.
- Or a faction prospers through your help, while another stagnates.
Sweet! Keep up the good job!
I am gonna toast that rift hound once I have the chance to see it. How dare it eat the release date!
I see the question I had in mind has been asked a couple times already. I’ll just stress the point that a static town-building process is more like grinding than anything else. Upgrade the swordsmith to level 3 and get the magic potion smith ready, and so forth. I’d love to see either-or type choices for town upgrades that promote a more dynamic hometown rebuilding experience. The only downside seems to be that it’ll be a lot more difficult to balance out.
The complexity of the system is only limited by imagination and the time available for developing. For example some houses could provide synergy benefits, like a magical stuff smith and alchemy shop open up choices for molotov cocktails and other advanced mayhem. Armor dude with aether smith results in a golem shop (if there are golems in the game). I’m not really sure what’s going to be in the game regarding these things, so it’s hard to come up with good suggestions.
I don’t think GD will have some elaborate town building mechanic - see [post=68692]quotes #3 and #4[/post]. I understand this feature rewards you for reaching milestones in the game and makes GD more immersive.
This is awesome.
I love doing stuff like this. Kick ass update!
UH Yuck! now we are going to end up with a shitty release date when it passes.
BOO, or POO as it were.
Then I had to follow him around with a little baggie for three days, man, before I got it back. Really blew the dog’s mind, ya know?
This is a great question. There are, as you indicated, a few ways to go with this. We’ve decided to have it based on the host, for precisely the reasons you mentioned. Ultimately in this game (and as it should in almost any game), gameplay > story, and we wouldn’t want this feature to get in the way of you playing with your friends.
At a high level:
We also want to track individual accomplishments during a multiplayer game. Say for instance you join someone’s game and rescue a merchant together - that merchant will also be rescued when you start up your game in the future. However, simply joining someone else’s game does not give you access to all their previous unlocks they might have gotten.
That said, nothing has been set in stone regarding this feature and multiplayer. So (Disclaimer) - "It’s all subject to change… but only for the better "
Perfect! Sounds like a great solution to me - especially the part about all those in the multiplayer game sharing the unlock if they unlock together - but NOT receiving unlocks that another player might have done before when solo.
(of course… understanding the disclaimer at the bottom).
I agree the vendor icons make me feel like I’m in the TQ world. Needs a new Grim Dawn feel :).
Awesome update Jalex you got me even more excited if that’s possible! I’m really excited to feel the world and people evolve. I love that Immersion!
Icons are not final
Heh, many bags look a like - it is a new icon. We can see about maybe changing the overlay to make it a little more subtle / less like TQ.
Seeing these new screen-shots makes me want to cry…
Why are you torturing me so ?
I want the game NOW !
sobs
Awesome! You guys kick ass! Keep up the awesome work!
I think I went a little exclamation point crazy. I blame You Jalex.
This is just the kind of thing I love. Its great to see the game world react to your actions
