[Grim Tools] Builds

I assume it’s just a lack of description in the thread. Basically it’s just a list of videos and that’s about it - the crawler doesn’t consider this to be a guide in any way.

Hi Dammit, Is it working the same for LE tools? What do I need to do, to showcase build for LE? Just upload any video on yt or it should have some special properties?
GP.

The video shouldn’t be short (more than 5-10 minutes iirc), it should have voice over, it should have planner link in description (it must have full equipment and trees for all 5 skills). Other than that there are no requirements. The crawler just checks youtube search results for “last epoch build guide” query, so the video should somehow end up there (e.g. “build guide” should be mentioned in video title, but I have no idea how youtube ranks videos).

Is there other option for build showcase that not require uploading video? I thought there was some kind of build planner etc but I could not find it now.

You can just import your character into build planner and share the link, the same way as it’s done in GT.
Theres always an option to write a build guide via https://www.lastepochtools.com/build-guide-creator/, but this requires more effort.

I’ll check out this build planner option, TY!

Hi, dammit, pm’ed you but you might have missed it.

My newest build is missing* for some reason from “builds” page in Grimtools:

Sorry for not replying sooner. There was an issue with the crawler, so several recent build guides were not added to the list. It’s fixed now.

I’m wondering why my recent build didn’t get picked up: [1.2.1.4] Cadence & physical Primal Strike Warder. SR30 & more - Grim Dawn / Classes, Skills and Builds - Crate Entertainment Forum

For this one, I intentionally posted the word “guide” on the forum and left it out of the YT video description in order to avoid my video post being picked up by the crawler as well. I am seeking to avoid duplicate entries on the build page. Moving forward, I’d like to use only forum posts for the crawler and delete the video posts. Forum posts seem easier to update than video posts and they connect me to other build makers more directly.

Thanks for your time and work. Feel free to respond on Discord as well.

Written guides are supposed to have actual content, stuff like explanation of selected skills, point investment, synergies, itemization, pros/cons etc. I mean all the stuff you see in video guides, but in written form. Forum guides are considered written guides, so they will be picked up only if they appear as such to GT forum crawler. The one you linked contains just two sentences, obviously this is not a written guide, so it will never be picked up by the crawler.

I understand that. My video guides are very detailed and go into all aspects of the character, so my forum posts are intended as a brief introduction. I will add more to them.

What can I do to avoid duplicate crawler entries? I have one build listed twice and I will likely trigger more duplicates when I post existing video builds to the forum. It occurred to me that this could be because my forum handle is shorter than my YT handle.

@Dammitt, I am small builder and big fan of your tools. Could you add this one, please

I don’t add anything manually.
Youtube guides are added by youtube crawler, forum guides are added by forum crawler.

  • Youtube guides shouldn’t be short (at least 10 minutes or smth like that), have voiceover and link to GT calc somewhere in description.
  • Forum guides should be written guides, so there’ should be written explanation of the build: choice of skills, items, synergies, pros/cons, gameplay details, alternative setups if needed, etc. It should contain at least one GT calc link as well.

I checked the topic you linked and there are only like seven sentences in the first post there, so it’s not considered a guide.

It named builds not guides, also i think i gave explanations of priorities, i am not naturally english speaker its hard for me to write poems. All my builds are written like this one, but they was caught. But i ll try to add something significant, thanks for great work and replies.

@Dammitt would it be possible to include green MIs that has modifiers in the “Used Item” finder criteria box?
Seems like it would make certain builds/idea much easier to look up when you think/know “oh this was using X build defining item/modifier”, eg Kali’s Ka, but then you need to search by rando legend pieces instead hoping it was either using spellscourge/targo helm etc instead
Suppose also in part because some builds just simply use so many greens

Hi, I’m new here and I posted 2 builds so far, both of which don’t appear on GrimTools. I’m wondering why that’s the case, can I do anything to fix it? I feel like they are pretty unique and it would be a shame to have them buried here on the forum.
