[GrimTools] Build Calculator

Offline tool r not working, rar are corrupted. Can someone fix this?

gd-build-calc-1.12.0-v1.1.5.2-win64.zip: Unexpected end of archive

and is the same with the rest of file there.

Thanks

I just tried extracting it. No problems whatsoever doing so. Your file either corrupted when you downloaded it or something is going on with whatever extraction tool you are using. Personally, I use 7zip to handle such tasks.

https://www.7-zip.org/

Also, keep in mind that the offline version is for an older version of Grim Dawn. It has not been updated to the latest game version yet.

i use winrar, and have download it several time and always get the same error. will try again. thanks

do u know any other site where i can download it. i know that has not been updated to the last version but i need offline version for calc, database and map.

I put it in my dropboxā€¦

I extracted and ran this file just fine.

I copied an existing 100 level character and tweaked everything to get the new build. When I upload it to the tools calculator - https://www.grimtools.com/calc/M2gjqK6N it says itā€™s an invalid build. The character loads and plays fine. Iā€™m using GoG version with local build files. up to date on version 1.1.6.2. Anyone know how I figure out what is causing this message ?

Physiqe points spent 89.5, cunning 8.5 I donā€™t know how is it possible but thatā€™s the reason.

Ah ok. I can tell you why that is - I had to adjust the points as I did not have enough cunning. I used gd-edit, which worked to do the adjustment, but clearly Grimtools doesnā€™t like it. Iā€™m curious why Grimtools would care though how many points are in each attribute ?

Probably because of a little thing called math. If I had to guess GT, as is right and proper, is probably expecting whole numbers and there you are not giving it what it wants.

Me and the other math teachers at my former school performed a song for the students called ā€œCrazy little thing called mathā€ based on the famous Queen song :stuck_out_tongue:

While that makes a lot of sense there still seems to be a mystery here. In the game you canā€™t allocate half a point. I assume GD itself rounds up when the base calculation doesnā€™t come to a full round number. I also used whole numbers when tweaking with gd-edit. How does the final calculation not come out to a full round number then ? I could try to fiddle with it once i have access to my pc tonight, but without knowing more Iā€™ll just be flying blind. By no means a killer but Iā€™d be surprised if I was the first person to come across this quirk.

I can give myself 800 attribute points in GD stash. You should probably ask the same question(s) to the author of GD Edit instead?

Each attribute point assigned counts as 8 physique /etc. Heā€™s probably off a proper increment by 4, which leads to an N.5 value.

That isnā€™t how I went about changing the totals. I changed the Phy and Cunning totals directly, as shown in the character database. I will play around tonight with using either a tonic or the mystic to reset in game and rebuild the totals I need and see how that goes. If that makes everything good again then Iā€™ll send off a note to the gd-edit creator. I donā€™t think thereā€™s an issue with the tool but it is odd how the math has occurred using it.

Then I think it its related to what Xeverous wrote, that you have not increased cunning and physique in steps of 8. You can add physique, cunning and spirit in GD stash as well but only in allowed increments.

Yeah - just saw that and I completely forgot about that. I ā€œthinkā€ I subtracted 36 points from Physique and added the same to Cunning. 36 of course isnā€™t a multiple of 8 (my math isnā€™t great but even i can figure out that much). I will try updating later using gd-edit and increments of 8 first before I test all the other options. Iā€™ll let everyone know what pops out ! Grimtools is also a great QA tool amongst itā€™s other awesome qualities

Would be fun if you also tried with other increments and see what happens in grimtools, like can it display 61,25 or 61,125 points spent in cunning for instance :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure. I might be wrong but I think there is a limit of 9999 for Phys, Cunning or Spirit. It was in a post somewhere. Someone wanted to beef up their character to beat a boss and they found they could not go any higher. Canā€™t remember if it was in gd forum or redditt. Might have changed since then. I can test if thatā€™s still true or not anyway :upside_down_face:

OK. After much step by step setup and testing I fixed the ā€œinvalid buildā€ message that was coming up.
The TLDR version is that somehow I had an invalid Devotions setup. I had an extra point in the crossroads that I had not removed. Why it allowed me to keep it in game Iā€™m not sure, but Grimtools sure said ā€œGet the f^&* outta here !ā€

Grimtools (and the game itself) does not give a crap if you have a fractional value - check out my error free test subject - https://www.grimtools.com/calc/a2EkJGJZ. There is a .25 and .5 in the build and no errors.

I also set a value for cunning of 61,125 just for giggles and to satisfy malawiglennā€™s curiosity. The game itself will happily accept the value but Grimtools will not. It will give the same Invalid build message as per the screenshot below

Thatā€™s a wrap on this ā€œissueā€. Iā€™m sure there is a moral to the whole story somewhere but Iā€™m not smart enough to think of one and Iā€™d probably ignore it anyway. It was a good learning exercise. Thanks to everyone who pitched in with suggestions and ideas on what it could be. Cairn beckons once again !
