Playing a spellbreaker atm, lvl 24 hardcore, dual wield.
Anyone out there who got one too? I feel so damn weak, few hits in close combat and i am almost dead.
Using flash freeze already, also shadow strike to get in and out.
My damage seems also not that good, lots of fast hits but only small effect.
get maivens asap for mitigation. melee is a bit rough at the moment.
on a HC spellbreaker youre more than likely guna want both mirror of erocetes and blade barrier as damage negation and use them both liberally…even if you keep them as 1 point wonders for a while. these will allow your stamina to heal you or to pop a pot/hold out for the next one.
also look at the tortoise devotion skill as a priority its great for early HC even if you respec out of it by the time you get to ultimate. attach it to a permanent effect skill like maivens.
i think overall the spellbreaker cannot be as much of a tank as other classes…you have to play more strategically via mirror/bb, dive in and dive out. be careful where you dive in via shadow strike - being too eager can put you in the shitter.
I currently have a lvl 70 softcore, dual wield, shadow strike, cold/pierce Spellbreaker that just started Ultimate. My source of damage is from Shadow strike and execution. What makes this combo good is that while I wait for my next shadow strike, Im hitting with execute and whirling death on my auto attacks. Stuff is dropping like flies for me and my gear is only halfway decent. Execute / SS on bosses kills them in seconds (with a few exceptions.)
The way I stay alive is to SS into a group, Flash freeze, auto attack, ring of frost level 1 and flash freeze to keep them frozen, SS/auto attack some more if anything is still alive. Throw up Mirror if you start taking damage and pneumatic blast to heal yourself. Basically (if I do my rotation correct) I dont take damage from anything in the game except for bosses that cannot be frozen, and some ranged stuff. I shadow strike boss, use mirror and bash their face, run away when i take damage, shadow strike again and repeat until dead. I use blade barrier as an OH S*!T button.
Star pact is great with its cooldown reduction as everything Im using has cooldowns. With maxing both classes, you really have to plan where you put what few points you have, but it works good with my current build.
With my current build, I would say it is Hardcore viable if you take the time to max out your resists and get some good defense nodes in devotion. Right now my resists are mediocre, my devotion is all offensive and I usually only die when Im not paying attention.
