Has anyone successfully changed the main character model into something else?

As in new skins, new look, etc? I have an idea for a remake mod, set in another world and time, but I want the main character mesh/animation to be something different.

Has anyone attempted to do that yet?

One method is to replace the player character with an existing Grim Dawn creature model. I can’t really go into detail on how to get it working as it has been over a year since attempting this. What comes to mind is all the conflicts that surfaced with the model not showing up correctly in the title screen and in game. Parts of the original player would show up along with the replaced model. The character display in the inventory ui was another issue; getting the camera in the right position (if a smaller or larger model is used).

Since I used a model that was non-human, what I had in mind was to use enchantments or some way to do tattoos instead of gear so that fitting armor pieces on to the model wouldn’t be an issue.

Not the greatest info/help…but maybe inspiring in some way.

Thank you for that, at least you’ve given me a place to start. I love this engine and everything about the game. What I’ve got in my head to do is do a (mostly) complete overhaul and add some sci-fi to the world…or part of the world.

I’m a huge Mechwarrior fan, and for years gamers haven’t had a real choice in terms of space sci-fi ARPGs. Well…who is to say someone couldn’t do a full conversion of the Grim Dawn game and have Mechwarrior: Terran Dawn instead?

Yes, a MONSTROUS undertaking, but aside from the models/scale, I’m fairly sure I can handle everything else. I’ve actually thought of hiring people who can model and doing a proof of concept around this idea.

Instead of Panettis Missiles…SRMS  That sort of thing.

Or hell, even a warhammer conversion. The orcs (goblins) are sorta already in here!
