This may not sound obvious but I have downgraded my nVidia drivers (from latest version) to the version downloaded by Windows Update (w10 x64), using DDU and now Grim Dawn is running a lot smoother. Other games too.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
In fact I was experiencing abysmal performance with nVidia drivers 372.54 (GTX 970).
Also had to revert back to older drivers-ancient ones 352.86 … A lot of hard freezing (reported) on nVidia GTX 670MX with 372.54 and also worse performance…
I’ve had terrible stuttering since the windows10 anniversary update. It seems it broke in game vsync, I can watch the fps rapidly bounce off the 60fps frame limit when running fraps. It’s annoying as hell. Using vsync through the Nvidia control panel fixes it, but it also causes some weird fps lags. Suppose I’ll try rolling back the drivers and see if that helps.
I’ve been playing GD since B28 and I’ve noticed 0 difference between any of the AMD drivers over that time period. Turn off shadows which is biggest fps booster in my exp and I’ve found keeping weather/lightning off of the highest settings helps a decent bit for me without a huge loss in quality.
Besides that overclock your cpu as much as humanly possible. The difference in GD between having my FX6300 at stock vs 4.5 is pretty huge especially in terms of minimum fps
