and that i think is much better phrasing and detail highlighting, and less dismissive with better specific key overlaps
Obligatory Lv 69 update:
Playing through Act 3 in HC at the moment with not too much issue. Pets died a few times vs Cronley and also whilst fighting the colosseum boss but otherwise pretty much a breeze through the compaign. Just gotta take a bit of caution in the dangerous domains.
Lv 84 Update:
Got some legendary pieces - amulet and medal. I think having the increase to max resistances should help with survivability.
My main question is - should I be upgrading my praetorian set to higher armor pieces? I know I can definitely get more pet damage and pet stats using greens/faction/MIās but I dont know whether its worth losing the physical resistance offered by using this set. Im on 35% phys res with the praetorian set + shield combo. Alternatively I could upgrade the 3p set and the shield to greens and an offhand. So far I havent had any issues, I usually try to stand behind the pets but the few times I got surrounded I was totally fine.
Also, devotion is a bit of a mess and I put 1-2 points in for pet resist rather than completing a full set. Maybe that could use a bit of work.
But so far so good, Im pretty sure I could easily get to 100 just like this but will need to plan on an endgame buildā¦
a good endgame build chooses a theme and then focuses really hard on it!
so what is your theme?
your most build defining items are the amulet and korvaak blade
so Iād say your theme is: fire skeletons + fire fiends from amulet + fire hellhound
this means you want solaelās witchblade devotion to max -fire rr
I wouldnāt bother with blightfiend since it isnāt your theme (or put only one point in it), bird as support is fine
you can exchange typhos+imp for solael witchblade+staff of rattosh without losing ishtak
fire hellhound has very strong headpiece chosen visage and you can exchange the headpiece without losing your phys res
I donāt like one point in infernal breath because it slows down ember claw, if you use it better go all the way
and always max out hellfire it is THE skill of this theme, preferably you want it 22/12 in the endgame build
also donāt put ember claw below 12 since then it has taunt
EDIT: also i think stag is better then scarab, this isnāt really a shield build +% blocked will do almost nothing
Lv 93 update
Oh hey, Iāve been playing a very similar build recently. My setup is rather more offensive, and I have some obvious issues to fix, but Iāve gotten to SR14 so far and itās definitely SR25+ capable after those fixes, likely also SR30+ but that would be more comfortable with the relic upgraded to Mogdrogenās Ardor (and maybe Fiendmaster chest).
(Specificallyā¦ my hat is a level 70 base, one ring isnāt even a Bloodsworn Signet, I havenāt filled all my component slots, I havenāt maxed reps for get armor augments, pet aether/chaos/CC res is noticeably bad, one seal should be Resonance. Iām just lazy.)
defensive gearing - I havenāt felt the need for an especially defensive setup. Possession, Turtle Shell, pet tanking, all of the +life on the purples for this build, and just running away from things has kept me alive so far. I do run Spectral Crown for the 6% phys res, and staying at high skeleton count is of similar importance to dog damage so I donāt really miss Chosen Visage.
I do like your medal choice but I donāt think itās worth running that shield over a Fleshwarped Archive.
hellhound and blightfiend - Max Ember Claw and no Infernal Breath or Blight Fiend is definitely good for using the dog as primary tank. My build canāt really do that because Iām recasting every 4s for Blazing Death damage, so I leave 1pt in both dog attacks (heās only going to use one of each anyway) and 1pt in Blight Fiend to have a tank. Infernal Breathās damage reduction has reasonable uptime this way, definitely inconsistent but it helps a bit.
I donāt think your blightfiend is doing much tanking, you only have minimum threat generation and no taunt from ishtak and if your dog dies constantly then hellfire bonus gets interrupted.
If you look at my LV 93 update I have changed around the skill points and devotions a bit. Removed blightfiend and put more points into hellhound. Also removed imp and typhos and took a slightly different approach to maintain ishtak.
I think It can still be improved a lot but so far I just completed all the main campaign on ultimate as well as a few side bosses in dangerous domains.
Will work on it a bit more. Gear definitely needs an update from the LV 50 praetorian set Iām still using ha!
my last post was in response to siosilvar
not sure that was entirely clear
Blight Fiend definitely drops aggro at times, but I donāt foresee that causing real trouble outside of Fabius. I have spare points in Soul Harvest that arenāt adding much, Iāll try moving those around.
Anyway, not to hijack the thread with my own build - I do recommend Spectral Crown and Fleshwarped Archive to OP. Youāll be down around 9 phys resist compared to the mythical version of that shield youāre using, but get lots of relevant skill bonuses.
havent had much time to play recently but did drop a Mythical Fiendgaze Tome and was thinking about whether to go for that which converts to chaos damage type.
Edit: Lv 100 now
I played a Skeleton Defiler using two of those weapons. I paused the character at level 40, but it was performing very well. I beat Veteran Korvaak pretty easy. Thereās no way to keep the skeletons alive, but I summon 7 at once, so itās fine.
why the vanquisher 2p, and no thermite mines?
For the conversion and fire damage. No mines because I donāt feel like casting them. The 47 RR from devotions should be enough for comfortable playing.
suppose thatās part of my confusion, what aether dmg? thereās no aether devo procs, it doesnāt apply to pets, medal converts flats on boneharvest on your side, and you have 49 total from spectral binding, half of which belt already covers (so 2 slots for getting 25 base dmg converted)
amen
Does conversion not work on Revenant?
oh yes it does, for sure, my bad, (i just never considered that for/as dmg proc but just ārr sourceā )
They can end up doing a decent amount of damage actually.
sure/never paid attention so canāt say no,
i just feel like i recall them being nerfed, more than once, because they did āactualā dmg then, turning them into mainly a RR source
