Hello from me

Hello.

I’m a 32 year old (read: young) guy from Norway who love ARPGs. Diablo 2 being the one I spent the most time in by far (still play it from time to time), but I think I’ve played most of the notable ones (TQ, Diablo 1/3, TL 1/2, PoE, and just lately Grim Dawn, Van Helsing and Marvel Heroes). This last year most of my ARPG time has been spent in Path of Exile, which I still play and enjoy.

I’m gonna be honest and say that I’ve been looking for a replacement for Diablo 2 and by that I mean something as addictive (with the same type of replayability, is that a word?), but also with closed servers (bnet). I was extremely excited about Diablo 3, but it was not what I wanted at all. I could probably write 50 pages about why, but I’ll just leave it at that.

I know closed servers won’t happen for Grim Dawn, but lately I’ve decided this don’t really bother me any more. I’ve enjoyed the ARPGs that don’t have closed servers a lot as well and Grim Dawn seems very promising so I decided to grab the Loyalist pack the other day and try it out. So far I’ve only barely had time to test it, but I enjoyed the few hours I played.

These are good days for ARPGs though, with PoE coming up on a major patch, Marvel Heroes just getting going, Van Helsing and now Grim Dawn going alpha. So many options and I’ll be sure to be playing all of them on and off.

I also raided in WoW since the Molten Core days until about 8 months ago when I decided enough was enough. Until then I was raiding 3-4 days a week. With me now working (normal day job) 5 days a week it just became to much for me. I have to say I don’t regret leaving the game although I do miss the social aspect of raiding slightly. It’s just nice to be able to decide myself which nights I play games and which nights I don’t. ARPGs really fit me much better in this regard. I also like being able to not play a game for a month and then come back to it and not be completely out of the loop.

Other than that I’m a big football (soccer for the Americans) fan. I follow all the major European leagues closely and have also been playing Football Manager a lot (to much probably) since the days it was still called Championship Manager (like since the 1994/95 versions).

That got a bit long so …

TL;DR: I love ARPGs (any and all of them) and got myself a Loyalist pack to try out Grim Dawn. So far I enjoy it.

Cheers.

Nice to see more Norwegians here.
Velkommen

Welcome to the forums and Grim Dawn.

Hope GD proves to be a great ARPG experience for you and I really hope Crate Entertainment does well so the world can become massive with time and expansions.
