Hello H&S fans: developers and gamers!
I have been playing video games since I was 8 years old. Started with C64 then moved to Playstation and finally to PC gaming. For me, games were always a great way to spend free time. They were always in my life to some degree, but only lately, after building my first own gaming rig, I realized that it is something more than just a mere hobby to me. It is in fact my greatest passion. I collect them, talk about them with friends, note my high-scores and best results on paper, save screenshots and more…
I enjoy most of genres, especially RPGs, shooters, racing, fighting, platformers, strategies, even visual novels (like Divi-Dead) and of course - action (H&S) RPGs!
It’s interesting to say that first isometric-view H&S which I played was actually Titan Quest I didn’t get too far (Egypt, I think) but I really liked it. The visuals, game mechanics and especially music. Music was sooo amazing and mesmerizing. Later I played (and finished) Dungeon Siege 1, which is still the best H&S game I have ever played (note that TQ is second on my top list!). Soon I played (and finished) Torchlight 1, which was a bit too colourful and I didn’t like fishing and a cat/dog wandering around my character, but I think that game has done many things right. Finally, I was so interested in H&S that I had to try the legend. I played and finished Diablo 1 with delight, having a great time. Lately I tried also Diablo 2 but it wasn’t the same, I stopped playing before the end of second act. I liked it but the fight with Duriel was too much for me.
Grim Dawn looks truly amazing to me. Animations, graphics, special effects look so awesome that it’s hard to believe they are done by “indie” developers.
I wanted to pre-order but there is no support for paypal But no sweat, in April I should get my first credit card, so hopefully I can support the devs.
I know that the game will be great. So I am not worried about classes, skills or anything. My dream however is to have sort of never-ending H&S experience. If there was a crypt or dungeon within the game with randomly(?) created levels, that would go infinitely deep, so the game never really ends (and has no real purpose aside from sheer hack-slashing fun)…
I wish all best to devs whom I admire immensely. And of course, I can’t wait for GD!
Hey welcome, just want to say I love the idea of an infinite dungeon perhaps after the main storyline. I remember similar things on other games but it definitely wouldn’t be out of place with GD :3
hi and welcome to the forums
Yes, definitely after the storyline or as some sort of separate gameplay mode. Would love to see that - my epic character, fighting till the end of his days, always craving for more glory
They did something similar in Torchlight and that was the best thing about that game - great idea IMO.
Welcome Zero_Harker!
If you never got further than Egypt in TQ, you should definitely give it a go again. The Orient and Hades are the best places, imho.
And I never got that far in torchlight, heh.
Yes, I will do that for sure! I really enjoyed TQ, but so many games and always not enough time… I bought a Gold Edition in a big box with guide and some nice stuff and … oh my… if only I had it here with me. I am so much missing my awesome gaming rig
Yeah, I finished Torchlight, playing with Alchemist, only … 21 deaths! And I think most of them at the last fight (which was a bit too hard compared to other petty bosses). Then I started to experiment with Hardcore mode and the warrior class, but soon moved to other games. Also I thought a lot about creating my own mod for Torchlight that would remove fishing and pets and also change graphics/texture to some darker. more grim (!) ones. But… I can’t start that project on a laptop, maybe someday… It depends on when I will get my hands on GD!
Also I wanted to mention one more thing that I am so happy that Grim Dawn won’t be released with an annoying DRM! I am reeeallly grateful!
Hello Whiteberry,
Welcome aboard! =)
