Help a new player

Hi all,

I wanted to ask for help, or to be more specific some instructions that are clear and easy to understand.

Iplayed GD some time ago as a gunslinger (my own creation) anyway it wasnt really successful and after getting to lvl 65’ish i think i gave up.

What I’m asking for is some links towards clear tutorials, not some guys rambling about their builds and asking for god tier equipment to make it work, or talking about skills that I do not know. I’m looking for clear information, how skills interact, TL DR description of a classes and most importantly devotion points, which I do not understand at all. I could not find what the specific branches of the tree relates too. like for example: all green are mostly for ranged classes ect.

Anyone can help ?

Thanks

There is a build compendum in this very section of the forums. It’s a stickied thread and it’s hard to miss. Look for builds that say newbie friendly and have “(g1)” or “(g2)” in the name (“g” means “gear”, 1 or 2 are tiers that consist of easy to find/trade epics and legendaries). Most builds explain mechanics of the build, as well as gameplay/gear/devotions, some builds even offer leveling advice and have videos. Look out for grimtools (www.grimtools.com) links - they contain all the gear/skills/devotions in a web-interface that copies game interface.

just read game guide then

Hello Riddo,

Welcome back to the game! As Thrasheaur suggested, you really should read through the Game Guide and Class Masteries descriptions provided.

For my first character i followed Jajaja’s “Beginner Physical Warder” build, and then the fire strike Saboteur build from the same author. Those builds, while now fairly old, are still decent beginner builds as they rely heavily on crafted and reputation items.

Additionally, Warders are a good starting class as they are extremely durable and deal “ok” damage without crazy end game gear.

This is actually the best way to learn the game. This is how i have accumulated all of my game knowledge. Heck, I read builds for classes that i have no intention of playing just to broaden my understanding of game mechanics in new and interesting ways!

My personal advice -if you want to make the most of your time- is to check some of the guides posted to get an idea of what mechanics are strong, pick a style/mechanic/class combo you like and start experimenting yourself. Guides are amazing sources of information and theorycrafting, but more importantly, they showcase approaches to the game that actually worked.

Sadly, there’s no way to replace in-game experience. The only way to learn the game is to pile hours on it, find problems and try to overcome them. It involves research and trial/error. As it has already been pointed out, the game guide would probably provide the basic knowledge you would need to understand the game.

Good luck!!
