Help me decide between 2 devotion setups

Basically I want to try and make a lightning based Druid build using Raka Jax.

Skill Tree + devotion variant one:

A LOT more health and %defensive ability increase

Skill Tree + devotion variant two:

http://grimcalc.com/build/1007-T3vrw4

Wayward proc gives def ability and regen, 30% bonus resist reduction

Or maybe something else? Suggestions?

PS: A Druid with Raka Jax has some pretty insane %crit damage…

Far better devotion loadout for a ranged lightning build.

Just a warning though, your build will be pretty crappy just looking at your skill point distribution. I don’t have the time atm to help fix that, but Druid is already the weaker combo for a lightning build due to no innate Lightning resist shred, you are far better with Conjurer or Elementalist.

I do agree on the importance of lightning resistance reductions, but I am trying to make an alternative build based around high OA and crits. Might not be as good, but we shall see.

Contrary to Elementalist or Conjurer I also have active skills to supplement the shooting - Trozan and Storm Totem. Plus i already played a Demo based character and i know form experience how painful it is to aim the termine mines with a melee character. With ranged it would be so much worse. My Commando made it to level 110 gladiator cruicible with entirely safe found gear as a first character.

With that said Hydra seems pretty horrible. 35 OA, 3% OA and 50% damage increase seems fairly marginal for the point investment. I considered Hourglass too, but is getting out fast a dual of storm totem worth it? Hmm… now that i think about it it might also help with Mirror CD.

The important part of both of them isn’t the damage, it is the slow resist, and the DA on Hourglass. The main thing that stops ranged builds from kiting is being slowed by the blatantly unavoidable AoE slows that last for 12 seconds. 98% slow resist says screw that, I don’t give a fuck how much slows you throw at me, I’m immune.

Also, in regards to crit damage.

You can make 1/4th of your attacks have 3x damage, at the cost of only having 63% resist redux, or you can make 1/5th of your attacks have 2x damage, but have 100% resist redux.

Your 1/4th case has an effective value of 1.5x DPS with 63% redux, while the 1/5th case has 1.4x DPS with 100% redux. Assuming a 0 resistance enemy, you deal 2.445x DPS on crit build, while not crit focused deals 2.8x DPS. This, the absolute best case scenario for the crit build, is in the non crit builds favor already. If we assume an 80% resistance enemy, we get this instead. Crit build : 1.24x DPS; Non crit build : 1.68x DPS. A 33% DPS increase in the worse case scenario, while the best case is for a crit build is that the non crit build has a 14% DPS increase.

I was hoping to avoid the kiting part with the help of Wendigo Totem + Maiven + Savagery transmuter.

And yes, I completely agree that resistance reduction is the best way to make a successful build in this game. Elementalist is probably better. I still want to do a Druid.
