Help requested for a Dagallon's firestrike purifier (Resolved)

I totally understand the reasoning behind your build but, my current build has deviated so much from the original devotions and items that if I wanted to change my current one, hell let’s just keep to the original build and not fix what is not totally broken…

This is the current build: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/M2gGmy62
To be honest I don’t quite like my OA and resistances with this build but, things will be alright as long as I stand in the inquisitor seal and have word of renewal up… and all things aside I’m still waiting for the new patch to see the ballance changes then I’ll be changing everything.

That’s very true.

One last build. I was trying to think of things that might work better in your build (didn’t find anything that worked with resistances) then I got distracted and ended up with something really different.

If nothing else, I bet the amount of particle effects will make your GPU cry!

So you went the cindertouch route ha?
Correct me if I’m wrong but when you have less lightning percentage that fire you should not convert your fire damage to lightning because you loose so much damage in between. but again I totally get the route you went for resistances and think reign of ice and fire is a good option all thing considered.
Maybe I’ll start using handguards of justice for more pierce res and AS for a bit less damage… but can’t include the shoulders, they mess everything up.
Came up with this in the end (https://www.grimtools.com/calc/M2gGQlW2)
Thanks for the suggestions.

The final build is safe and mostly the same in 1.1.4.0 bar the AS/CS pluses removed from ignaffar’s combustion…

Thanks for this thread, Cyan. I’m a new player to GD, been playing for about a month now since coming over from D3. Absolutely loving the game, and DW Purifier is my favourite char so far (because guns! lol). I’m also using AKDONG’s old build as a template, and have made a few changes myself, no idea if they’re good or not but so far I’ve managed to clear the entire game + expansions with it and now starting to work on Celestials. And Grava lol. Haven’t done much with Cruci or SR yet, they’re not really my fav playstyle, but I will get to them eventually.

For now, I’m using a hybrid fire/lightning bulid, mostly bc I don’t really see a way to go pure 1 element from gear? Also, why not both? lol

Here’s my WIP build, I’m going to switch over to Korvak’s relic once I finally get the blueprint to drop, I wasn’t high on Ignaffar’s to being with and now def not after the AS nerf.

Puri is super fun to play, def squishy when outside the Seal, but I really enjoy standing in front of bosses and shotgunning them in the face. :sunglasses: Biggest thing for me is learning boss fight mechanics, there’s no such thing in D3

Dagallon Purifier Build

Happy to see someone else playing a purifier build and tweaking it themselves.
IMO ignaffar’s combustion is still the BiS relic for the build because of the elemental damage flat and percentage bonuses let alone the RR on the proc and completion bonus.
I think your build is solid enough but I would change the devotions and especially the components used on my gear to get more DA because currently it’s on the low side.
This is my latest version of my build (https://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2zmzAaN), you can use it as a reference.

Thanks man, will def take a look at your build again, I def knew I could use some more DA.

You can gain a lot of DA just by swapping the components and augments in the rings and augment in the amulet.

Components: Bloodied Crystals, Runebound Topaz
Augments: Typhoon powder, Irrah’s blood

Thanks for the advice! I just beat Lokarr for the 1st time tonight so I’m def making some progress now. :+1:

Cyan, did you see this buff in the patch?

Mythical Wyrmscale Footguards: added 50% Stun and Petrify Resists

Yeah I saw that but the resistance and health bonuses on Stormtitan Treads are better than stun res, let alone the higher armor Stormtitan Treads have,

I created some Dagallon purifier few days ago. With some OP greens, but I think it’s possible to play without them, just use what you have.
Main point - fire was playable, but kinda meh - too many bosses have huge fire resist, so I made lightning version which is better. Didn’t played it much though, just killed crucible 170 once, no problems. Ranged specs just not my thing.

Hey Sam, I’ve been tooling around with many different iterations over the past couple weeks, sometimes when I get new drops or just messing around with gear I’ve had in my stash. This is the most solid version I’ve been able to come up with yet, and I think I’m gonna stick with it:

Way more balanced than before with OA/DA, I found the Jusitcar hands and shoulders really helped me a lot and even allowed me to take the buffed Wyrmscale boots but you could keep Stormtitans on for the extra HP for sure. I’m comfortable running with ~11k HP for now though.

Rejigged devotions to include Solemn Watcher, I should never have not had that one, and didn’t have to give up any T3 devos either.

Performance-wise I can pretty much shred any Nem except for Grava lol I don’t even bother with that guy. I’m a terrible pilot anyways so I’ll just have to watch some vids to figure out that fight. Otherwise, my goal for this build is SR60 so I can farm the whole set from there. I think I can get there but not sure, I have no idea what kind of difficulty level that is. Oh and Lok without continuously dying  I really don’t enjoy Cruci at all so I can’t tell you how far this would get in Gladiator.

Btw, don’t even get me started on the relic I have on. I think I’ve already given up on farming Ignaffar’s… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

EDIT: switched to Living Armor component in chest to top up armor absorption rating

Thanks for the reply.

Currently I’m running this build after farming IMO for a long time to get the head piece blueprint (https://www.grimtools.com/calc/RZRQJPvV).

I can confidently melt everything I encounter now that I finally have the head and chest pieces.

About your build I strongly suggest you cap your armor absorption, Just put sacred plating on your chest armor or use scaled hide on your pants and you’ll be fine. Also I would suggest using Seal of the Void on your weapons for the sweet proc.

Regarding the shoulders and boots, I really can’t replace them without messing my resistances up… so no justice shoulderguards and wyrmscale footguards for me…

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the armor absorption for sure. I struggled getting enough chaos resist on this build which is why I had to stack it so much so I’ll have to play with my resists a bit.

Grats on getting the full Dag set finally, I actually never got the headpiece bp but have been lucky with drops so I’ve been rerolling my dupes at the inventor.

I was wondering why everyone use Seal of the Void lol. I’m capped on ATKSPD in combat so even that was useless for me. The proc is that good?

Here is my DW Purifier Lightning, no luck on the dagalons set yet.
Are my devotions on point or missing something here.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/eZP79yBV

If you look at both Sam’s and my current builds, you’ll see we’re both using pretty much the exact same devotions, try those out and see if they help you, although it’s more for endgame once you’ve gotten all your gear.

Try and focus on getting as much RR as you can from devotions while you’re still finding gear. Viper and Rhowan’s Crown are both very cheap and Solael’s Witchblade is great for Fire RR.

I built my original Purifier along the same lines as your build and gave up on the build all together. It is a boring build and not much fun to play with. I modified my Purifier into using 5 Mortar Traps at the same time build. https://www.grimtools.com/calc/Q2zmG0dN

A Darkblaze Daul wielding Pyromancer is a far superior Firestrike build.

Build a character along them lines instead.
