I think the time has come for me to dump this old computer (i doubt it will survive summer) and buy a new one, i don’t use steam cloud so i need to manually take my saved game file and transfer it into my future installation of GD.
At the mere thought of doing it wrong and losing almost 700hrs of gaming and farming i faint, so -just to be 100% sure- how to do that correctly?
Well, the toons are easy. Go to C:\Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn and then click on the Save folder and copy that. If they have all your loot that’ll be transferred too.
I would suggest either the mule idea or use one of the increased stash options to store your stuff, back that up and then you can install it on the new machine. Or possibly if you use the Steam version save on the cloud? Not sure if that would work for the stash as I’ve never used cloud saving.
steam cloud works if you start with it and never change, i tried the cloud once in gd and it just reset all my quests (can’t remember if it clears your stashes too).
I will do some mules it’s not a problem, i wonder how to keep those blacksmith known blueprints…
Suggestion: get the new machine up and running first, install the game and see what’s there. Then you’ll know if you do need to transfer stuff/toons or not. If it’s all there then you can just retire the old machine, if not then back up what you can before sending the old PC to its well deserved rest.
@They Live. I was more just thinking that it gives you the location and what’s in each of the folders so you can ensure that you get to keep all your blueprints etc.
