I want to make a char around this skill but I just don’t know where to start, the skill has 5 damage types and focusing on them all would mean very little damage output but only focusing a few seems like wasting some.
Any advice please ?

Most fun/powerful is imho, chaos>aether conversion. Has one of the best AoE, and it is among the fastest builds.
Things you need: total 100% chaos>aether. You can achieve this or with the clairvoyant set (some pieces) + one Albrecht’s Duality, or with two Albrecht’s Duality rings.
While the full set give you more base damage x blade, i advice going for the rings, so you can equip an Outcast’s Secret (helm), that is immensely useful on this build.
You can even grab a Warpfire (dagger), this way you get -25% fire/aether resistance on hit, convert almost all the cold damage into fire and can use OFF as a complementary skill (-100% enemy fire resist at max level). Also Devastation (and the mini one from the helm) does more damage as well.
Tome of the Arcane Wastes (focus) complement the build very well.
If you want 6 blades (at 26/26) you have to equip the Korvoran chestplate or find some good drop from Moose (the undead nemesis): one of the two shoulder pieces that drops form him have +3 to PB built-in.
Artefact is Agrivix.
Amulet is Peerless Eye of Beronath
Gloves are Aethereach.
The rest of the slots can be used to get resistances/OA/DA/Life…
Devotion-wise, the only thing you really need to take is Acid Spray. As TomoDak recently confirmed, you can leech on bosses this way (albeit do not expect to tank with this alone), but, more importantly, lower ALL the enemy resistances, so any bit of damage you’re doing, no matter the type, get buffed as well. Arcane bomb is just overkill.
Thanks for the detailed reply. I have all of them items but they get a lot of + skills to things that won’t be used and the increased chaos damage will be wasted if converted to aether right ? Also what about the pierce, bleeding and vitality damage of the skill ?
Maybe this skill just can’t be used that well and is just there for fun. I can’t think of any way to make ot strong no matter what items I use. The demonslayers set seems to be based around this but still only give sdamage for vit and pierce. I could mix speaker of the dead too and a few other items but since the skill has 5 damage types I could only get maybe max of about 500% increase to each type and that’s too low
FInished all the game contents in fast and easy fashion, except the Hidden Path but only because i haven’t had the time till now.
Build is a spellbreaker, you don’t have any +% chaos damage. Arcanist mostly because you need it to avoid energy issue while spamming PB, but give you other nice bonuses as well.
I think other in this forum that have played this can confirm just how powerful the build is.
Nice char Do you have any gameplay vids anywhere ?
I cannot upload any video because i live in a medieval region. If i start the upload now, you will see the video maybe the the next year…
Basically you run and spam PB around watching everything die almost instantly. If something is sturdy enough to survive, fire devastation. Bosses/Nemesis can require some kiting, but they go down, i can assure you of that.
I can wait a year, I’m patient ^^
And thank you for the advice. I’m too dumb at making complex builds to have thought of that lol. I always liked the look of this skill but could never figure out a good way of doing it.
Cool build I thought about doing this, but I was too lazy Wish there was more interesting conversion options in gd ;(
How bad is your up speed? lol You can make videos pretty tiny these days while still being watchable
This’s not mine idea, although it is strange there’s not a guide for such a build anywhere…
Upload is pretty bad (25-50 kps), while download is acceptable (up to a megaxsec). Also i haven’t ever done those things, on this forum i posted my first screenshot ever.:o
I would spend a nice word for my country, since i feel a bit guilty: it compensate with truly beautiful rural landscapes…
PB + Falcon Swoop has a nice synergy with % health reduction, allowing you to bypass “traditional” resistances like cold, vitality etc. and affect health directly. This comes in handy against such champion-level monsters like Frost Revenants that have high cold resist but no resistance to health reduction. Most heroes will still have 75% to 92% health reduction resistance however. When TD is activated it comes in handy again, allowing you to inflict 60% to 67% of your gross % health reduction with every cast against most bosses.
I was looking at trying a Phantasmal Blades build on a Vit/Chaos Witch Hunter. Any input on that would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any thoughts.
I am thinking Phantasmal Blades with it’s modifiers, Sigil of Consumption, Soleal’s Witchfire, and Possession. Add in Pneumatic Burst, Blood of Dreeg, some Veil of Shadows for defense/debuff.
Not sure what else to throw in but I am aiming for a caster-type Witch Hunter that avoids the poison glass cannon route.
Would Phantasmal Blades work for this?
Almost, but not quite… My previous PB build was a WH, that has completed the game on ultimate, but it require great efforts and you have to compromise the integrity of a caster gameplay against every “named” enemy because you cannot take them down with PB alone. Also you will drink potions like there’s no tomorrow, and you have to still pause between fights because energy simply is not sufficient to sustain your spamming.
Yeah, I figured energy use was going to be a big factor…
It really FEELS like a Vit/Chaos WH should be viable. Maybe Phantasmal Blades isn’t the path to take. Dual wielding really seems to support the poison/acid path more than Vit/Chaos. Going 2H or S&B just seems… weird for a Witch Hunter.
Oh well, maybe I should try a Warlock (or Witchblade…)
This was already debated ad nauseam on this forum - look for a thread made by GeneralCash around March 2016. Going PB on a Witch Hunter has some pluses and some minuses. When you compare it with an AAR Warlock or a Vitality Conjurer - yes it is better in terms of damage. However, when you compare it with a Phantasmal Blade Spellbreaker with Chaos->Aether conversion it is far worse because:
a) You can barely spam PB.
b) The Blood Orb conversion of cold -> chaos is worse than the converstion provided by 2 x Albrecht rings or the Clarvoyant set.
c) survivability is not necessarily higher even if you put Mark of the Wendigo on the blades.
It is HC Ultimate viable ? - yes it is.
Can you kill Fabius in 6 seconds - no, you can’t.
As far as vitality/chaos damage builds go, the TD Doom Shotgun Conjurer I posted is perhaps the fastest you can go (and perhaps top 3 in the entire game in terms of single target dps, on par with SS-TD Spellbreaker). If you manage to craft a BoM with +5 to Doom Bolt you can kill the Mad Queen on Ultimate in 4 seconds with it and Fabius in 6.
I used to a vit/chaos dual wielding WH. Problem is Chaos/vitality resistances on most end-game enemies, and few options to debuff these. But with the recent patches i’m about to “un-park” the fellow and see how she can perform now (she’s basically a life-leecher). However an acid/poison/cold WH should still be definitively more viable.
Warlock are maybe the most difficult/frail class to play, unless you use TD. With TD, you’ll destroy anything, bosses/nemesis in particular will go down in seconds.
Witchblades. Again, chaos/vitality is not the best route (physical is), but it can be done with a little more effort.
In the end, stay away from PB if you really want to play a WH. It can be done, but the entire experience will be seriously frustrating.
OK, thanks guys.
I really like a lot of the stuff in both the Occultist and Nightblade masteries but finding a decent build that isn’t paper thin on the defensive side seems almost impossible to do.
This not true at all. I’m still adapting my “leecher” to the new patches, but so far she seem indestructible. Or you can be a traditionalist and go poison/acid/cold, a build that is very popular as now and that give you the possibility to farm anything (i use her to farm the sentinel for the pants).
I would be very interested in seeing or reading more about these two builds!
Precisely what you need?? Screenshot, gears, devotion’s route, skills… Please ask only about the cold/acid/vitality one, as the life-leecher is “under developement” and I do not want to give you untested infos…
Skills/devotions on the cold/acid/vitality build would be great.
