So, i just reached lvl 85 with my spellbreaker and i’m not very impressed. While the damage is decent, i am far too squishy for a melee build. Sometimes i die few times even before the skeleton key door at boc.

Please tell me if you have any ideas how to make it tougher without sacrificing tons of damage 
way too many low res, try to find some green pants/boots and/or change components.
your skills and devotion is pretty standard for cold melee SB
i dont play with maiven sphere and i nuke everything including nemesis, without issue.
with the gear you have and the offensive devotion you should be able to have more than “decent” dmg, maybe you expected too much ? xD
fightning mobs that dont deal the dmg you have low res, you shouldnt die at all.
Keep in mind, cold SB like this one are and will stay squishy, its like kill fast or get killed somehow, but with PB mirror and blade barrier you should be fine …
to me cap your res and thats it, grab empty throne devotion to help you with that if needed, i dont see much to say you already have many BIS gear so …
I see. Well, those obsidian giants for example seem to kick my ass pretty easily sometimes…I guess it has something to do with low armor and phys resist. I’ve been trying to find green pants/boots for weeks now without luck
<.< I guess there is no other way of getting those resists up other than those.
I have poison augment on most gear slots already, so it’s hard to play with those.
change your components until you find good greens (boots.pants/shoulders) black tallow, aether souls on medal/amulet, antivenom on hands, silk swatch on pants/shoulders; leathery hide etc
on a squishy char like this you really have to get your res capped, or almost (you can still use ointment and potions) with 6% aether res, no doubt you cant do valbury for example.
you wont have high physical res/armor on a char like this anyway.
on my set up i have 0% physical res and i dont use maiven, still i can clear all content with insane fast killing time and its crucible viable also.
feel free to check compedium, many builds like this one have been posted.
dont forget you have pretty low chaos res.
Playing glass cannon builds like cold/fb SB do require some experience and knowledge of the game ie. what mobs will do what kind of dmg, when to engage, when to use mirror, nulification, pb,… With some enemies even slight mistake in timing your skills means you will probably die.
Stating that your resistances are awfully low, so probably you would be required to change some augments when farming/playing specific parts of game ie. when going to BOC try to up your chaos/vitality resistance. Also I would rather sacrifice poison resistance than vitality in any case.

I dont have lower row resists capped on any character, (mostly 20-40) and they are fine…this build needs more care i guess because i have like nothing to sustain my hp with during fights.
It is fine because you can avoid it. Vitality and Aether is the most important because you’ll encounter it frequently. Also bleeding.
As you’ll see most builds in the forum cover all resistances to max or nearly max. It is just recommend, but if you manage to survive without them. They’ll be just a number.
capped res is a must, not everyone would agree and i can understand, but imo its one of the first thing you should focus one while making a char
the best DPS worths nothing if you can get hurted bad by trash mobs
It’s not that i wouldn’t like to cap them, but without those greens it’s almost impossible. Back to farming i guess
black star of deceit is another good option
After some tweaking, this is what i ended up with…it’s a little better though i can’t find a way to get bleed resist up. Tbh can’t see myself killing any nemesis with this.

Yeah well i don’t find bleed res that important though…maybe when killing fabius, but i don’t even have nemesis on any other factions than cthonians yet.

Umm, guys i can’t get one thing out of my head. You are saying you don’t use maivens, whats the point in that? Even with just 1 point in it i think it’s very good investment. Damage loss seems pretty damn small to me. And you said it yourself, it’s not a tanky build anyways so i think all damage absorb is welcome :o
1 point in maiven is ok, you can grab conversion aswell for CC reduce, just dont go for 12/12.
Yeah but many guys are saying “i don’t use maiven” now if i understand that correctly, it means 0/12 points in it. Or is it same kind of thing that i heard about some german HC diablo players who played without chest armor, just for the heck of it
