High Pop Crashes

I stopped playing a week or so ago due to constant crashes on a large map with 2000+. I have all of the map explored and atleast 50% of it visible (within a line of sight) Is there an engine limitation that maybe we should know about? I know 1000 pop max is recommended, but I find it difficult to play a city builder with an artificial pop maximum. Any suggestions.

P.S my computer is processor and memory heavy (best i could get a couple years ago), but I only have a GTX 1660 Super.

No, there is no hard limit outside of what your hardware can handle. Some people have pushed 10000. A large map will also stress the system more than a medium or small one.

What CPU and how much RAM are you running with?

Glad to hear that people have pushed it that high. Gives me hope
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16 Core
RAM: 32 GB (i have around 50 GB with virtual memory)

You should be able to run a 2k town with that, assuming you’re not eating up all that RAM running background tasks.

See if the game is generating a Crash Log. These can be found in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\Crate Entertainment\Farthest Frontier\Crashes

This folder may be set to hidden by default in your folder options, so make sure to enable hidden items. Inside this directory, you will find a folder called Crash_Date_Bunch of Numbers (ex. Crash_2022-08-02_171459771).

That’s impressive! Could you maybe release a table with recommended (by Community) specs needed (CPU GPU RAM combos) for say medium map 1k, 2k and 4k as well as large map 1k, 2k and 4k?

Or would you argue that it would be misleading as everyone will run different video settings etc?
