How to level 101 for newbs

Hey so just got the game about a week ago, been playing a lot and so far once I’ve done the wardens dungeon I head to conclave of the three and do a few shattered realms, did that long quest for the eye as well. I have a few chars about 35 now but love making new ones to test skills and stuff… ANYWAYS I was wondering which areas and when? I’m not sure if I’ve somehow missed a major story line quest and am lacking direction or if there isn’t one?

I’ve been using this map Grim Dawn World Map which shows areas and levels but weirdly once you head to the left of devils crossing the zones say 18-120 so I’m a little bit lost. I checked the guides section hoping for a where to go and when kind of post but can’t seem to find one so if there is one would love a link or maybe just a little “bro you’re dumb here is where to go” at this point Im kinda stalling due to I think playing the play through wrong so yeah any help/tips would be amazing. Thank you!

just do your quests, more specifically main quests(star marked quests), those take you through the game and all the areas, and doing the main quests also feed you tons of XP

Ok so correct me if necessary but from what I’ve gathered so far we can call you dumb but not a moron :face_with_monocle:

Yeah, go to the left, it’s Act 2. Conclave is the last Act (7 or so). Might be confusing because it’s accessible earlier, after killing Act 1 final boss Warden Krieg.

Level 100 is max

for the player, but not for the monsters, which is what the zones are referring to.

@tqFan you can call me anything you like flicks hair and giggles haha and ok so yeah after warden that emmisary guy pops up so I went conclave did his challenge and ran for miles to do some other eye quest because I thought rektbyprotoss or something mentioned doing it asap in one of his “beginner” videos which really are not for new players as he mentions stuff so casually that I’ve never heard of lol! Ok so skip conclave and the shattered realms runs if I want to keep doing story properly, got it!

Thanks @Gnomish_Inquisition I actually don’t think I’ve noticed the stars just the ! and ? so I’ll login this morning and check, I’m pretty blind so hopefully I can spot it now I know what I’ve been missing

Still confused by the 18-120 for monsters on a zone that’s basically act 2 though haha

Back to the grind <3

the star is in your quest log and on the quest tracker

tq mentioned conclave/kovan basin being act7, personal recommended approach (unless needing FG MIs) is to just do the main quests aside from Conclave first, that way the game takes you through all the content “in order” and generally fitting level scaling (FG will scale up to max level when you’re done with base game quests anyway)

Honestly I’m still undecided as to what I’m playing I’m an alt wh0re same in every game which is good so not sure what I need to farm item wise just yet haha I need to sort my life out and just get one char to end game lol I’ll do that and come back to FG later.

The faction stuff everyone yaps about in videos - is that something I should do early, I think thats what I ran miles to do from the conclave area to get some eye on one of my chars (not sure what to do with it now) and if you pick a faction with 1 char is it account specific or per char and have to do that long run each time?

Edit - I’ve seen the stars now, haha can’t believe I didnt notice the first 20+ chars I’ve made…

Just pick whichever faction you enjoy the most. It’s specific per character, and you get a redo once you bump the difficulty. If you hate the faction after playing Normal, you can change once you reach Elite =)

It’s always good to go Conclave for Movement Augment Skills. You can stop at that and return after doing the rest of the campaign but for many builds it’s often to go to this act for some specific build defining leveling gear.

After you finish one char, you can level subsequent characters way faster (in in a few hours) to level 100. If that’s something what you’d like to do because some players like long leveling from scratch.

I find myself not going there anymore since we have evade. I’d just do things in order if you’re new to the game. You get to play through the whole thing so many times anyway if you like playing alts

Less confusing to do stuff in order, plus FG content is actually a little harder than the rest, especially if you end up there early.

you don’t need to go to Conclave for movement augment unless it’s your very first char, alts can share them from stash since glyphs aren’t soulbound (similar to xp potion)

Ok lets say it’s my very first char since I’m still alt wh0ring haha what are the movement skill augments - are we talking like movement speed/total speed or something? I’m definitely down for a bit more movement speed when it comes to levelling.

When I went there (conclave) I did some quests - challenge by the portal, then a few runs in SR and then on my blitzbro char I ended up getting a quest and running to the temple of the eldritch sun after vanguard of the three, and killing some baddies and I am sure I got an eye of something for the reward which I had in my inventory I feel like I did something with it as now as it’s gone from my inventory so can’t even check the name haha I was following something on google at the time but can’t remember why I did it or what for - can someone tell my forgetful ass what this might have been and what for?

Hahah thanks! I just googled when to pick a faction and now I have to figure out which ones going to suit me best, damn it

They are movement runes (also called glyphs) which you apply to your medal, each rune/glyph grants a different movement skill. There are several types, eg. teleport, charge and leap.
Low tier runes/glyphs are sold by the faction vendors in the Conclave of the Three, better ones can be crafted after you found the blueprints.

Ahh wicked so I assume I’ll need to have joined a faction first then haha! Thank you!

If you made it to the Vanguard of the Three, you must have already joined a faction, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to leave the Conclave. So you should have access to at least one of the vendors already. Check out all three of them, each sells a different movement rune.

Hahah holy shit I really need to stop skipping the text on npcs - such a bad habit!

Edit - ok Solael? I must have joined them I can buy a couple of runes to apply to medals haha!

I just applied for a refund on my game as I got it for almot 90AUD last week and now its like 40 but it’s going to remove all my current stuff by the looks so I’ll have to re-do this anyway but no drama my highest char is 36 so no drama and probably better to start fresh having learned heaps on here and discord already

You can back up and restore saves. Both cloud and local. In case it’s needed but probably not
