How!? Why!? Any idea, what to build around this? ;-)

I was thinking about a Cabalist… duh!

Any thoughts around this, any ideas? Let’s go bonkers about htis a bit, shall we?

For starters, there’s a distinct lack of flat RR (though this can somewhat be glossed over with the right mastery like Demo or equipment) and no -x% RR devotion. Still worth mentioning though as there is no context to where this route is being used currently.

Seru and Sage is a common combination for Elemental casters (particularly if you can full convert Seru and find a suitable bind to bring out it’s full power) but Abomination is off. Is that just Abominable Might or Tainted Eruption as well? Either way, you’ll want some conversion in here somewhere to make the most out of it, and even then, I’d argue that picking up Whirlpool or some strong T2s like Fissure/Blizzard, perhaps some defensive devotions like Alladrah’s Phoenix if you lack/are stacking flat damage absorption, Twin Fangs/Guardian’s Gaze/Ghoul/Behemoth for health recovery etc. will be more flexible and all around potent.

Well… for RR (why does everyone think it is so important!?) I tried a Cabalist with ALL RR-Devos (except Rattosh, dind’t fit anymore…) and to be frank it shredded wonderfully. But also… too easy?

In regs to Sage and Seru: you mention conversion. Which direction, elemental to aether or vice versa? If direction to aether, please point me at the gear? Is there a good overview?

For everything else: I am aware of what you say.

I like to play around with Rainbow Damage, as you know, so the question is more or less, If I was FORCED to use those three Tier 3s, how would I handle it?

So, mainly building around absurd devotion choices, that’s the fun in it. To me at least.

Abomination is the perfect Devo for Occultist. Misses only bleeding and Fire for my preferred Occ-Skill Choice (Bloody Pox-Wasting-Black Death, Sigil-Destruction, and Curse).

Blind sage? Well… can’t make too good use of this, to be frank, as there is no option to get the slightest bit of Lightning Damage in this build (except Mythical Trozan, of which I never found a piece, or Sigil of Corruption, which I like very much, being the third and only addition to Spreaders like Bloody Pox and Ill Omen, but only available at Lv75…). It would help a little with Destruction though and…

Well, as Necro is my second most beloved Mastery… a little bit with Ill Omen.

As would Seru, and Abo (Vit) and Seru (Aeth) would also strengthen my most liked Skill in the Game: Spectral Wrath-Spectral Binding. (Btw: if there is some sort of ‘perfect’ Cabalist Build around Spectral Wrath/Binding… let me know please)

I was thinking about something like this:

Could this work?

Because it increases damage by ALOT against highly resistant monsters like bosses etc. I guess you do not play end-game at all.

Facebook builders ignore RR

Your guess is… well, your guess, I suppose. Me no care.

There are only 4 ‘Bosses’ I never took on on Ultimate, the three Celetials and the Mad Queen.

As others mentioned in this forum, building only around to being able to kill THEM makes for some very BORING builds…

Playing a game in a BORING way is not for me.

Btw: I never have issues shredding anything (except above 4), I sometimes can’t even use all skills in my beloved Rainbow Pianos before everything is dead…

I am still working on a build, that would be able to shred the 4 Superbosses mentioned above, and still utilising ‘Fevered Rage’ though. Getting that done would be… NOT boring… ggg

what is fun or boring is highly subjective

true, but I can totally relate to what those people described.

I and a colleague tried a few Pet builds when the game was new to us and ended up shredding everything while standing around (boring!) or GOT shred, 'cause the dumb pets liked to stand in AoE-fields, dying faster than they could be re-summoned.

So pet builds are off.

Tank builds just stand there, beating on what ever ONE enemy, not doing enough damage at all. Retal is cheating imho, sorry guys…

What I am trying to accomplish in the long run though is a tanky caster build, able to dish out as much damage as the game allows (forces me into Dying God direction again, I’m afraid. I HATE Dying God!), while lazily walking around a bit, when showered in too many AoEs. Ah, and of course, Fevered Rage ;-). A Combination like that, ripping Ultimate Ravager to pieces is what I strive for.

If there are no other options to get that done than ‘boring’ builds, I don’t think I will do it.

To be frank I have a feeling that there are several rainbow-piano Builds out there which could outperform (almost) everything posted in here. I could be wrong, but I will continue to try that. I wonder if some of the masters out there, using usual strategies like, well, stacking one or two damage types to the max and put the rest in some sort of DA (no matter which one, I see e.g. CBs as DAs in this circumstance) have ever looked into this in detail? Because their approach seems too obvious to me and thus boring.

But as you said…

KEKW KEKW KEKW

is that laughing, coughing or something else entirely?

Google it.

It is fine that you think your builds are more fun compared to the builds often posted here, but to think they perform better… is just pure BS

well, it’s laughing then. Don’t see that spelling in his squeels, but ok.

Well, I have 1750 hours in this game.

I’m playing dumb a little here.

Based on the latest patch I will see what I can come up with.

Mind you: I am rarely using augments to date. I am NOT using Runes. And I am RARELY using the best gear I found. And still… rarely any issues. I posted a build in working a few weeks ago, no comments came on it.

I just hate to play along standards and the obvious.

I see a lot of templates before me soon… I hope it will not be boring!

I guess you do not hang around too much on the internet to know what the KEKW meme is

You play the game as you want. I wish you all the luck in achieving your goals in this game. Looking forward to see your builds posted with game-play videos.

Perhaps someone like me, with only 4,3k hours, can finally learn something new like RR is useless and rainbow builds are way stronger than mono damage builds

RR is not useless but SEEMS overrated, that’s what I’m saying.

Btw: is there some ‘How to’ reg. Videos in this Forum? Post the link please?

Btw, edit: 4.3 K hours is indeed a lot. Never managed to play this much, not even Skyrim, which I’m still playing.

So, no bad conscience for me to try and keep up with you the next months reg. play time ggg

It is not overrated, in fact RR is OP. Look at the patch notes how many times RR and resistances have been changed on various skills.

Just upload the video to say YT or Vimeo or whatever, then post a link. It is not rocket science.

I wasn’t asking ‘upload’ I was asking ‘recording’. I suppose you use some separate software for it, which one is recommended?

I thought “reg” meant “register” as in “upload”

OBS is pretty straightforward and free, and are tons of guides on youtube. Also most modern computers have an built-in recorder. Also there is bandicam.

ok…

I never thought of making those vids, but I will see if I can manage to create some Off-the-Grid Build worth posting.

It may take a while. And I may will continue asking dumb questions here

Well, isn’t that the objective? To be able to kill things quickly? If you find it too easy, then perhaps you could test the character against harder content :man_shrugging:. Trying meme-ier builds works too I suppose which is what your objective is here, but I still urge you to take RR devotions else you’ll hit a wall on some highly resistant enemies.

If your definition of boring is how fast/slow something performs then I don’t know what to tell you, for me what I find fun is down to playstyle, skills used and appearance regardless of how strong or weak it is :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Missed this out as well.

Either. For Aether, there’s Magelord rings, Diviner/Soulare Head and Diviner Chest or Decree of Aldritch.

For Elemental, there’s the Inquisitor Ugdenbog belt and Spelldrinker.

Pets would probably be the best way to handle multiple different damage types I imagine as the gear for them gives % damage to all damage types so they have more of a broad amount across everything with specialised damage types getting more stacked on top, at that point you just worry about stacking RR (which is also easy with a flat RR source, Curse of Frailty/Death Sentence and the Salazar Harbinger aura).

Though, not really an option here as Seru and Blind Sage can’t be bound to pets.

You’d just have to look at conversion in some form, there’s ways of routing Elemental, Aether, Acid and Chaos around. Dual damage builds are doable with enough careful balancing as well.

I agree on the last one. (!!!) Playing for the beauty of it ggg

I enjoy very much the Light Show, especially all kinds of chainlightning, but I once tested that and the Cunjurer killed quickly and full of Colour, but one hit, and he was gone, so… naaa. I also saw those Nightblade - Crucible Quick kills. When I take a look at the builds, there are some points here, some points there… Nothing maxed. I did not yet get used to such an appoach. My Nightbladebuilds glasscannoned too hard.

I kept in mind that the RR combination kicked ass well, I am just not sure yet on how to include it properly.

Currently Conjurers and Witchblades ( no Build without OCC… yet) are those outlasting almost everything but are boring as I always do the same thing over and over, while the rainbows SHRED but get SHREDDED just as easily…

The combination out of this, shredding tanky Rainbow is what I am searching for.

But this thread got way off topic… but still I enjoyed it

Id be interested to see these videos.

Like you, I too enjoy playing “outside the box”. My favorite way to play is HC classless, but it takes a heavy toll.

RR is in many peoples view a way to make the game a lot less boring (kills come much faster and more reliably, particularly in the most challenging content in the game IE; Crucible and Shattered Realm). I have found it to be this way, but sometimes that does mean your options get boxed-in by RR sources, which can feel disappointing, limiting, or sometimes oppressive… but can also give your build a unique feeling when its really good at one or two particular damage types and skills in the face of the most threatening game modes, and i think thats the point.

That said, if all you’re trying to do with this build is beat the game on Ultimate RR isn’t nearly as relevant as it is if you’re trying to run endgame content reliably.

What is your end goal with this build?
