Howdy

Hi there,

I happened upon this forum by accident and boy was I pleased I did. Just before discovering Crate and Grim Dawn, I was thinking about how disappointed I was in the gaming industry’s decline (namely the decadent DLC/piecemeal content business model) and found out you guys at least recognize that such an issue exists. I can’t say the same for a lot of game developers. Just today, Bad Company 2 announced it was selling full soldier kits for $20

I am a great fan of small developers that try to break away from this industry trend. After reading your responses in the following thread:

  • I knew I was among like-minded people.

I recently decided to forsake my favorite game developer, Blizzard, since I came to the conclusion that they too have been pursuing monetary gain at the expense of the player - this post on Team Liquid (a site dedicated to SC2’s competitive scene) illustrates this very well:

I would like to wish the developers of this awesome game the best of luck. I am confident that you guys can be a part of the kind of PC gaming that we all grew up with in the 90s and bring the magic from those years to the present.

Oh and I purchased your Legendary key

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you here!

Welcome to the flock. You are definitely in the right place. Quality games built for the PC, without a cross platform focus (which is overly kind, as any cross platform title’s primary focus is the consoles), are getting very hard to find.

The future of gaming and all we enjoy about it is now in the hands of indie developers and other independently minded developers like Stardock. I’m glad to support these causes as much as I can.

Like you, I dislike the ways Blizzard have been going lately. But Starcraft and Diablo are way too much of a powerful force to fight against… I’m not that strong :frowning:

I’m going to try and resist D3, doubt i can…

But, welcome!

Wow, that is really disturbing to hear about the changes to battle.net. As an old-skool gamer I have to say, I am really uneasy about the way things have been going in the industry. I can’t say I am too happy about it as a developer either because I’m wary about being forced into this new model of business just to stay alive.

I started writing a massive multi-page rant about the “ultra-casualization” of games but I decided I better save it for another time and get back to work!

Anyway, I’m glad you found your way here. Welcome to the last stand of oldschool gaming.

Welcome! Glad to see my old pal iskatumesk is manning up arms against Blizzard! He’s totally right, and I’m with him completely, as I have the same complaints (and more) regarding SC2.
