Hungering void on vitality caster

Is it me, or hungering void is bad in long fights? I’ve lost several characters who were vitality casters, either cabalists or conjurers in long extended fights with hungering void triggered, and I couldn’t run away long enough to regen.

lifesteal

I had lifesteal XD, but still got crushed XD because I was outside of the range of my totem and the other abilities didn’t proc XD

then you didn’t/don’t have enough lifesteal

This doesn’t have much context into it. We can’t know how you really died if you don’t give more details.
That being said, Hungering void is pretty much mandatory for vitality casters.

What Gnuffi/Retal_Abuser said. The damage boost is significant and virtually always worth it for a Vitality or Chaos user. The ~300 health drain is pretty paltry when you could/should be recovering health back in the hundreds or thousands every second in the middle of a fight to survive. The health drain only rears it’s head at the end of fights when you have nothing else to life steal from so your health slowly ticks down and that it means you cannot patch yourself up via Constitution while it’s active.

If you are playing Cabalist and specially Conjurer, you can mitigate a lot of health drain with Blood of Dreeg. Conjurer also has Mogdrogen Pact with health regen (even if the vit caster variant doesn’t put points in it).

Plus health drain can’t kill you.

It certainly can, if you have a bunch of dots on you with no enemies left to hit :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Once I died after clearing a shrine from reflect damage + Hungering Void.

But that said, like the people above said, the damage more than makes up for it for vitality/chaos toons. During a fight it should be no problem, you should be lifestealing.

This isn’t the official discord xD

Doesn’t mean Gnuffi isn’t here under another username though.

The situation was that I had just killed korvaak and was running away from his swirly death ball thingies, and was therefore outside of the range of my totems and there was nothing left to kill, I was also unfortunate enough that my pot and blood of dreeg were on cooldown.

There is probably a lesson in there about not having all your regen options on cooldown at the same time.

I guess what thoughts now are, if I don’t take hungering reach, any other alternate devotions that are good to take?

Abominable Might, if you really don’t wanna use Dying God.

Thanks! Sounds good will check it out.
