I just got a vitality ritualist killed stupidly trying to cross damage terrain without paying enough attention. I liked that character because, while it had good melee damage and sustain, it could kite with ranged vitality decay damage if things got too nasty to stand still. In general, I strongly prefer that kind of semi-tanky character that can kite at need to a pure face-rolling melee tank. Other than a vitality/vitality decay ritualist, does anyone have any suggestions for a build that could play similarly? I thought about a vitality/vitality decay death knight, but it seems really hard to pull off without lots of special gear.
Can anyone recommend other builds that are durable enough to feel decent in hardcore mode, have solid melee damage and decent DoT damage, preferably attached to ranged attacks? I’m sure some kind of lightning/electrocute savagery character would fit the description, but I’ve played a million of those, so I’d prefer to try something different.
Octavius Forcewave with Cadence as main buff (1/1/12 Cadence levels, same for Forcewave, max one of these if you have overload of skill points). I made a tank like this, mothefucker has stupidly massive damage as for an (almost) immortal tank.
I’ll consider an internal trauma build with forcewave, cadence, possibly transmuted blade arc and laceration, etc. But, Octavius is out of the question, since I’m playing a self-found hardcore character, which means I want to rely on whatever stuff I can find or buy. No trading, no transfers from other characters and no farming the crucible.
You don’t have to farm Crucible to get gear. I’ve never farmed on Crucible because it was way too boring to me. I always went for Rogue-likes and Nemesis’.
But if I’m making a character whose goal is to complete all the content in the campaign, with rogue-likes and nemeses being the highest challenge, what am I farming rogue-likes and nemeses for, exactly? And how long would I have to farm to complete a legendary set anyway?
I’ve thought a bit about doing HC. But I’ll wait until FG adds some faster progression to ultimate, as that is where I personally want to start self-found HC (or any character, tbh). I’m not that much about end-game items as I’ve lately been trying to do nemesis with less and less (both firepower and resists) - mostly for personal challenge and learning the moves.
If I were to do HC presently, I’d play to ultimate with whatever drops, then go do the Twin falls hive runs a bit. If still not satisfied, then do a Roguelike (imho SoT has easiest room of death and boss for max loot chances).
Depends on what loot you will accept. If you are all about HC and not self-found --the first char should probably be a solid farmer for the rest to come. However, I’ve been farming nemesis for quite a while now to see if it’s possible to get the last few BPs and it’s about 30 per BP now…my point being that self-found may possibly not get the items you desire…many of the Nem chests are simply greens now (I assume there are some hidden scrolls in there that take the place of blues/purples…that are duplicates)
Just my 2 cents.
No more suggestions? Could pierce/bleed be made to work as a combo? Lots of items, skills and devotions support both, and yet I never see builds combining the two. What class would work for that combo best, trickster, infiltrator or blade master?
Pierce damage just sucks. Only Inquisitor and Nightblade support this damage type, and they have no bleed RR either way. So you could eventually just focus on bleed while having pierce as a back-up damage type but even then you won’t feel that you even have any additional damage type as a support. On my bleed build, I have about 1000 - 1700 physical damage unbuffed - fully buffed and no RR at all to that damage type, and I still deal no physical damage, hitting for like 10k at max, lmao.
