I can't start the game up?

I can’t start the game completely? When I start and choose e.g. “Pioneer”, then the game starts loading, but freezes when the status bar lacks a few percent… I wonder what the problem is? Could antivirus software maybe be a problem? (See also the printscreen).

Can you share your dxdiag? Also, what size map did you start?

Yes - coming up…
DxDiag.txt (134.0 KB)

So your CPU is around min-spec, and your laptop has an integrated GPU that might be getting prioritized over the Nvidia card.

You can follow these steps to ensure your dedicated card is enforced:

Besides that, I would start with a smaller map to ensure your system can handle it and that you don’t have too much other software running in the background.

I am having the same issue! After playing a solid 3 hours last night, I’m unable to play today. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, freed up memory, etc … and still can’t get the game to load. It will start up with the logo but then goes completely black and stays there.

That would be different since you’re stuck on booting up the game, yes?

Try wiping C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\my games\Farthest Frontier

If that works (probable), please put the files back until the issue repeats, then send the offending file to us.

Thanks! This worked - Steam resynced the folders after I wiped them,. If I can get the issue to repeat I’ll send you the file(s).

Can you share the files you deleted with us please?

Hi again.
I have now adjusted the graphics as recommended. But it’s still the same place the game freezes while loading. I can play all other similar games just fine, e.g. “Manor lords” without problems?

Ok so I had the same problem - after the company logo it was black screen - but cursor is game cursor, and i can hear sort of thunders and noises as background sound.

I did what was suggested in this post and deleted the Frontier and Fronier-prev text files in Logs folder, and the game loaded successfully.

However, I played a bit and saved, exited, and started again, and encountered the same problem. I checked the same folder and this time only a Frontier text file is in the Logs folder. Same loading problem.

I went into the Save folder and deleted all older games (leaving current town save folder and the steam_autocloud.vdf. I can see that as the game is loading (before it actually goes into the game, i.e. pre company logo screen) the old saved games are being magically added back into the Save folder. They are not from the Recycle Bin as those files are still there. Somehow the game is recreating these old saves.

And then the game loaded successfully again…

It should also all be noted that the deleted-but-reappeared saved files are still there in the Load Game screen. When I try to click the red X to delete, and then click the Confirm button, nothing happens.

Okay…
I’ve also tried completely removing the game and reinstalling it - even on two different drives. But the game still crashes during startup. Everything else (including all other games) runs without any problems on the PC…
Any other suggestions for a solution?

YES! Now the game is finally running… It was the antivirus program (“Withsecure”) that blocked!
