When you get to Elite, the game starts handing you high level gear like candy. I almost regret being so thorough with my exploration, but I did find all of the hidden chests though. heh
Wait till you get to Ultimate where every one-shot chest drops a legendary.
So that’s like what? 50 chests, yielding 50 legendaries and if you’re lucky 2-3 fit your build?
Still, it’s a good source if you have dozens of toons, that’s for sure…
18 chests actually. And a few are easy to miss.
just a few days ago I saw a thread where people complained that at level 60 they were still using their level 35 or so gear, because drops are bad in Epic
Sounds more like luck than a consistent design to me
20, according to the achievement Steam gave me for finding them all.
I don’t see anything wrong with that if the items work. Maybe I am lucky? Will have to play more and find out, so far I have 2 characters in Ultimate, and it’s raining blues and purples.
All the cool items are all in the higher difficulties.
Honestly my guess when people are complaining about the drops is that they are getting just as much as anyone else but due to saltiness of not getting what they want it gets easier for them to say they get nothing.

When I’m missing a mid teir print with over 200 hours in the game and don’t get anything but common epics on a SoT run or in two hours of playing the campaign on ultimate doing full clears its hard to not get a little annoyed. It’s the loot table that needs to be adjusted. Its clear that certain legs and epics are far more common than others. I’ll never find the ulthos set self found. As of now I’ve only found the weapon. I just wish that drops were a little more random. I’ve had 5 deviltoungs stop at this point. Also weapons seem to drop far more often than armor and especially rings.
The drops ARE random, because that’s how random works, you can repeatedly get the same item before getting a new one.
Aside from that, I agree that sets are hard to complete for self found players, but I don’t consider SOT and BoC good farming spots; you should farm Nemesis bosses or high waves in the Crucible if you have it for easier/more consistent legendary drops.
Idk, really feels like a loot table like d3. And/or certain mobs are more likely to drop certain loot. I find it hard to believe that certain epics don’t drop more often than others. Same deal with legs.
It’s been tested. If you want blues, run SoT/BoC. If you want purples, run nemeses.
Yeah, Nemesis bosses are the way to go. I did a metric ton of bounties to get my hatred up on the enemy factions, and it certainly paid off because every time I kill one I get a purple or blue, tis how I completed my Ulzuin set for my Demolitionist. And since I am hated by every faction to the highest degree, nemesis bosses are everywhere and the loot is amazing. lol
Well, can’t say that I agree, neither disagree. It was a time when I was gettin legendaries from nemesis, and most of the time a recipe(for purples or relics). Lately I’ve found almost zero purples/recipes(maybe I’ve got almost all recipes??) from nemesis, but I’ve found lots of purples on different farming routes. I try to kill purple mobs(bosses) that can be easily reached, via portal or a little walk, and that seems to be a better alternative than nemesis.
I can share with you my farming routes for each act, if any1 cares (though I am almost sure that they are obvious, and with possible nemesis spawn locations on the way).
On the other hand I find it very fit for some legendaries to have a lower chance to drop than others (ofc RNG comes into discussion). That makes the game more fun. Something like in old times when playin D2, trying to get/trade for a SoJ :).
I dont play the story at all for drops, doing crucible you can get 5-6 legendaries every 15-25 minutes
Got 4 legendaries in BOC 2 days ago. And 3 of them weren’t even Sharzul chests.
Of course you can get legs in BoC. You get more of them from nemesis though, when averaged over a lot of runs. You could potentially get legendaries from farming Gutworm on Elite and I’m sure someone has, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good farming spot.
My favorite spot so far? Burial Cave lol… the easiest boss class monster (great source of tainted brains) who can also drop recipes and legs… AND when you run him you get a handful of aether crystals on the way.
I do not have the patience to hunt down nemeses lol… they can be pretty much EVERYWHERE (and is it just me or whenever I kill them they just drop 2-3 useless blues, and maybe a warrant with no purples at all… and most of the time their monster infrequent sells for very, very little… although if you get lucky with the affixes you might potentially find a great trading item)
Generally running bosses are better… good spots are like Burial Cave, Stanton Mine and the wasp hives… the areas are small and close to rifts and the bosses there drop just like any other boss monster.
If you want to run bosses, I recommend Cronley. Has a shitton of heroes as well as some dynamite along the way. If you let Direni live you get an additional guaranteed boss. And Cronley’s MI ring can be potentially be amazing.
Just like to ask about drop rates for legendaries in Elite .
I clear every map and cave so don’t just rush through , I just passed cronley in elite and omw to lvl 58 , so every single map/cave explored , every boss etc killed , and not one legendary yet , does it pick up in elite ?
I’m fairly new player and was chuffed to get in elite because of that “lvl 50+ monsters can drop legendaries” Not one so far
Cheers .
