I’m playing Pacifist mode, so I have no need for weapons of war. I only need bows and arrows for my hunters. So lately, when I try to sell swords at the Trading Post, it gets weird.
The Merchant I’m dealing with wants to buy swords. I want to sell the one or two or three the game has given me. It definitely says in the Trading Post Window that the Merchant is selling, NOT buying. However . . .
This is what I get. The Operation in the upper left is Sell. But the slider is all the way over to the left. You can only Buy, which is what shows on the right – “Buy and Stock” or “Buy and Transfer.” Even though the operation says Sell, I can’t. It will only let me buy, which is the last thing I want to do. The slider will not move to the left at all; there’s no room for it to. If I type in the number in the box next to “Sell,” the transaction ignores it. The transaction will only allow buying, as it shows here. The odd thing is, this has not happened with any other item, only with swords. . . . so far.
this is saying you have no swords in your town storage to sell, which if you have hunters they would of equipped them pacifist mode or not.
I’m also a little confused because you said the merchant is selling not buying, if he isn’t buying how were you going to sell them to him anyway?
My apologies. The merchant, in the large Trading Post window, is BUYING, I meant to say. I tried to get a picture of that, too, but the smaller one wouldn’t move so I could do so. I’m not handy at screen shots and such. I’m also sleep deprived from stress from multiple sources right now, including a daughter with cancer. I had one sword. Apparently it disappeared. But why does the upper box on the left say “Sell” but the boxes on the right don’t say “Sell,” but instead they say “Buy and Stock” or “Buy and Transfer.”
Yes. The other consequence of this is that it takes forever after you start manufacturing Swords to actually get them into storage because every hunter and tower guard on the map grabs them first: in my latest game I happened to be Deer-Heavy on the map and so had lots and lots of Hunters. Two years after setting up the Production of Swords, I’m still waiting for the first one to show up in storage!
Really? What is the rationale for that, I wonder rhetorically.
Egad. That can’t be helpful. I play in Pacifist mode. I tried in one game to manufacture all the other armaments so I could sell them to increase my gold so I could buy other necessary items, but it didn’t seem to work out. Perhaps your experience shows the reason why it didn’t work.
I can see the rationale for Hunters wanting to arm themselves - they are wandering through the woods where they could run into boars, bears, or wolves at any time.
After two years, I finally have a few Swords starting to accumulate in my storage, so now I can think about building a Barracks. I haven’t specifically done the timing, but based on a few previous games, I think this is about normal: I have 14 Guards and 9 Hunters, and it appears that my little digital swordsmiths have produced about 10 - 12 Swords per year. Of course, if any of the Hunters get eaten by the wild critters, their Sword has to be replaced along with the Hunter, so no rest for the Smithies!
