First words, I’m happy to be back to the game after a while and start anew. The game is much better regarding the performances, no more freeze and crash, much less stuttering, and the drop rate of legendary is so much higher than I remember.
This idea came about when I was collecting green items. I love green items because their stats are more random than epic and legendary, and sometimes I can get some great items out of them. But, after a long while, I feel kind of loss because there is nothing new anymore, and a thought came by: “I want to make my own item…”
So, this idea of Celestial Item came to life. They are esoteric items without physical form, so for them to manifest, we need a Fabricator to fabricate their attributes and then have the Illusionist to give them physical appearances.
I feel this implementation will excite players a lot because it gives them the opportunity to create their own items, it will be even better if they can name the items themselves.
This idea doesn’t need any design works, the game is already huge and
has many in-game resources I dont even touch. This is only gonna take a while to code, and the potential will be limitless.
This would be nice if Crate implemented it. I mean, we can always play with a mod, but some people prefer playing without mods.
Doesn’t matter. If you released such mod I’d probably use it because it’s really nice. The only thing I’d change is limitation of stats. I’d increase conversion to two, or remove some or all limits but increase the cost greatly after adding one stat. For example, conversion from physical to fire would cost molten skin + searing ember, but adding cold to fire on top of that would require you to add some rare crafting materials + other stuff with a high amount, let’s say 10 Ugdenbloom, 3x Seal of Destruction, x10 Flintcore bolts, and the next conversion would require 35 Ugdenbloom, 10 Wendigo Spirit, 12x Seal of the Void for lightning -> chaos etc. You know, to make some really powerful items but also to lose 90% of your components for that. You want to make an item that converts 100% of any damage to physical, you’ll waste all of your components for that.
This is a really great ideea. Would not mind if it were a new separate item, which would have a new slot. But again, great ideea.
But what is it with that “-1 to all skills” ? tbh that seems a very big downsider. Just take it out of the ecuation. The items should just be very expensive to craft and that’s it.
If this would make it in the game you should be able to do this with any type of item in game.
That dash isn’t there to signify a subtraction. It’s a list element, otherwise every other stat above and below it would also be being subtracted which would make no sense.
Nice idea for a mod but I don’t think it would fit in with the base game or that Crate would implement it. The main reason being that it would be hell to keep balanced.
tbh imo it would be far from OP if it would be usable only after lvl 94/100 and require a very lot of things to craft it.
Maybe you would be restricted to wear only 1 celestial item at a time to not make an op char…but still i wouldnt replace set items with anything so far, not even this.
but again, a new slot for a new item, even for this one, would be even more awsome. a new type of item that has it;s own new slot in the inv somewhere. or maybe “keep in inv to gain bonus” like d2 charms.
So, create your own item? No, thanks. Existent items would become rather pointless when you can craft your own, no matter how hard it is to craft them.
Too complicated. And next people are going to ask to create their own random dungeons. And then we have a game like PoE, where it’s all about snobs and elitists because of the complicated meta.
One of the great thing about Grim Dawn is actually it is still very simple in many ways, but simplicity doesn’t mean boring. I hope GD stays the way it is.
Yep, it is not the subtraction, it is a listed element which hasn’t been crafted due to lack of components.
It is not a mod, just an edited video to show the concept :D. I dont know if it is good or bad, just an idea. It doesn’t really need to be OP, when you put low chances to stats to appear, an OP item will be less possible. Yep, make it so expensive that you have to spend nearly all your components on an item is pretty fun
