[Idea]Heroic dungeons

Dungeons and nemesis hunting are my favorite two activities in this game, I think they are great, but after a while my character gets too strong and dungeons become too easy(i don’t like cruci or SR don’t suggest it pls), how about adding heroic dungeons where we fight lets say for example x3 Gargabols, just an idea. What do you think about it?

I’d say that’s what SR is for. And to a lesser extent Crucible. Not that I object to the idea since I’d never go in them anyway. But we already have 4 rogues in the game with another one on the way so I can’t see yet more dungeons being added when you have SR/Crucible to satisfy that need.

It would be the same dungeon layout, but at the start you can choose heroic mode, with multiple bosses at the end, for higher difficulty and more chests.

So make a mod then

How many people could possibly handle 3 unnerfed campaign Gargabols anyway? Not enough to matter. If you’re that masochistic, that’s what Shattered Realm is for. The rogue-likes aren’t that easy for most people, even if you feel differently.

that`s true!

most people (me included) dont ever can easy faceroll rogue like dungeons. And IF i can. I start a new char and build.

I actually wanted something like that. Not multiple bosses tho, but optional bump in difficulty. Rouges are actually fun and engaging to do.

Crucible and SR bore me to death, I don’t know how some of build posters still have energy to do them.

They’re a good source for farming crafting materials such as Ugdenbloom and Aether Shards. As a side note, it would be nice if dungeons had some guaranteed material drops from their end chests. Like Chtonic Binding from Bastion of Chaos, Tainted Brain Matter from Port Valbury and Ugdenbloom in Ancient Grove.

Another reason for increasing their difficulty and rewards is that it adds a larger variety of farming options. Even if I like the crucible and SR it’s always nice to do something else without feeling like you’re not being adequately rewarded.

And the implementation itself seems like it wouldn’t require much work.
The minimum would be to tweak enemy stats (and you can probably just use crucible or SR as a reference without much tweaking), add a few extra packs of enemies, enable another modifier or two and improve the loot table.

Once you’ve moved to the minmaxing point of a build and adjusted it to handle the higher difficulty of SR and crucible, the rogue dungeons become a joke.

I think pretty much any build can be bruteforced into facerolling rogue dungeons with good gear (not counting obscene greens), components and the right devotion setup.

Indeed Dungeons quickly become very easy and just plainly disappear in the sunset.

I would really like to have a souped up version of each Dungeon - maybe new mobs, more of them, bosses to be tougher and have new mechanics.

Respectively rewards should be substantially increased as well.

Maybe new recipes for Runes with random affix and suffix?

Then play Shattered Realm. Because that’s literally what it is.

And here’s the issue with increasing the difficulty of rogue dungeons: it would make it extremely difficult for some builds that can do it, but not as fast as other builds. Suddenly there’s this huge difficulty bump and they can hardly do it, meaning that dungeon difficulty would have to be reduced, effectively killing the point a difficulty increase.

“Hey, give me some more challenge, I want more challenge! But also, don’t suggest that I should try more challenging stuff, cuz I don’t like more challenging stuff!”

OP’s request in a nutshell.

I might like the idea, but your example is an immediate turnoff. 3x Gargabols, that would be no different then SR. How many builds do think can handle that?

I terms of rogue dungeons being easy I do not think this forums are really a good place to measure that. Not everyone wants to play builds that are min maxed to death(or all the time). And honestly this is what turning me off from grim dawn atm, the sheer amount of stats you need to balance is just too much at times.
I prefer keeping the dungeons as good place for less optimized builds to farm and using the time to improve them for such builds instead.

It’s not about changing the current balance of rogue dungeons, it’s adding a harder option.
Now I agree that the guy you’re responding to is a bit overzealous with the changes he suggests and we should keep the amount of work versus pay-off in mind since Crate has limited resources. But I believe my suggestions are fairly reasonable to implement:

Rogue dungeons are great as a stepping stone and should be kept as they are, but it’s sad that once your build has advanced they stop providing both a challenge and relatively speaking, good rewards.

Adding a second difficulty would in no way impact the current rogue dungeons but would open up more farming options for those that for whatever reason either don’t like crucible and SR or simply want to mix in a breath of fresh air between their SR and crucible runs.

As i said, i only enjoy dungeon farming and nemesis hunting in this game, nothing more, no crucible, no SR. Every time i start an SR, i ask myself, Do you want to do this? nop, is it fun? nop, and i just quit. I want dungeons with higher difficulty, they should have built more around dungeons.

Idiotic response in a nutshell, may i have the right to not like SR or crucible?

You do, but you are probably in a minority and there is already an eldritch dungeon going to be added later in the year. There is also supposed to be an end-point at which players are expected to move on when they start getting bored.

Don’t you think your request is unreasonable ask of dev time? I do (and I think most would as well), this kind of sleazy request (boss x3) is what mods are for. Doesn’t grimarillion do that kind of thing anyway?

I don’t like SR or Crucible either, but if I want more heroes then Grimarillion is what I play. You’ll find a hell of a lot more than 3 at a time in that mod.

Then use a mod. And it doesn’t matter if people can choose to not do Heroic Dungeons (you didn’t used this argument, but someone is bound to), people will ask: why can’t my build do it but others can? Then Crate will either have to buff those builds, and that’s always a risk, or nerf the difficulty of these dungeons, making the increased difficulty pointless.

I don’t like Crucible and SR either, but i’m not asking to bump the difficulty of the main campaign, which is all i play. You have to remember that you are not the center of the world, the main campaign isn’t made solely for you. There are other players that prefer the current dungeon difficulty much more and adding an higher difficulty would be off putting.

How is it off putting if it is an additional difficulty setting? If your build can’t do it, then don’t do it.

I don’t like the pure RNG nature of SR, so an option to play the old rogue-like dungeons on a higher difficulty for better loot would be welcome.

That higher difficulty could be additional mob spawns, more mutators, more traps/area effects. Although I completely disagree with OP’s idea of multiple boss spawns, that shit is highly annoying in SR already.

This is the best idea so far!
