IGN gave GD a 8.7

not bad at all!

Solid score IMO, although I would’ve slapped a 9 in there, if I was the reviewer :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea I was quite shocked coming from IGN.

Very nice review, glad the tester took the time to feel all the small details. However it really shows that he did not play a lot. His comments on the loot were not very relevant… I mean, come on, he doesn’t use any item filters so that he can sell basic items? And then complains about the loot management?

He mentioned the loot filter, but claimed that it wasn’t worth it because you’d be missing out on vendor monetary gains.

I wonder if he knows how little Common items sell for…

He did mention the item filter, but said his preference was to pick everything up to sell it. A habit I used to have, but broke because it was making ARPGs not fun for me.

As much as I don’t agree with his reasoning specifically about loot management being a problem, I do think it is something I’d dock the game for if I were reviewing it. When you have a few characters and your stash is full it becomes rather difficult to manage all the items. Plus component management is a total disaster (far better than before we could stack them though). Still, I thought his review was well written and he was pretty fair with his criticism.

At least GD wasn’t docked to 7.8/10 for too much water. He must not have found the Rocky Coast yet…

One thing I noticed is that he didn’t mention nothing about Devotion or even Factions… Kind of an overlook on his review.

“It’s like Diablo with guns!” 10/10 GOTY

Overall it’s good and starts and ends very well

Blow for blow, this is one of the best ARPGs in years

The Verdict
Grim Dawn is one of the best action-RPGs out there, combining excellent hack and slash action with a world and progression curve that makes it worth fighting through. Alone or with friends, it’s hour after hour of top quality combat and looting, with the promise of many more excellent dark times to come.

He mentioned Devotions in about one sentence during the ‘A world without hope’ section.

not bad. but 9.5 or 10 is the correct

Ah, he mentions on the video review, so that is why I missed it, since I didn’t saw any mention of it on the written review.

>the face when IGN gave PoE an 8.8/10

Alot of new players coming from other games in the genre make that mistake not realizing you don’t really need to do this in GD. I even did it like my first month or so playing. And then I realized there wasn’t any point.

It’s forgivable.

PoE looks and reacts so awful. I played it for 30 minutes at most and uninstalled it. The animations in that game with the outdated graphics gave me a headache.

Personally, I would give Grim Dawn a favorable review. I won’t say what I would give it as people would want to debate. There is room for improvement on this game, but it is fun.

Sounds about fair, actually.

I guess Crate just didn’t have the journalistic clout or monetary wealth to warrant a higher score.

I think that more or less the reviews for GD have been quite honest, while reviews for POE have been surely pumped up.

Yes, it’s obviously a matter of taste, for the most, but i can only see that every aspect i try to compare between POE and GD, GD is a lot better ( apart for the buying price… :stuck_out_tongue: )
