After my first toon, I realized (by reading stuff here) that Veteran existed. I saw a couple posts where people said to skip Normal and just go Veteran.
I have leveled 4 toons in the past week to appx. lvl 30. Commando, Blademaster, Warder, and a summon Conjurer. The only one where I didn’t feel like I simply couldn’t get off enough dps was the Conjurer. Everything else was such a grind, and after the most recent patch I swear I am taking way more dmg…it just feels like everything hits harder. I’d typically have a stack of 100 Mend potions before I hit the Warden (simply picking them up), and I’d be sell extras. Now I’m having to actually buy them.
I’m taking a crack at another toon and I was wondering if Veteran was the place to be. Am I “gimping” my toon by playing on Normal?
Veteran exists purely to be a challenge for people who want it. You do get marginally better gear on Veteran since there are more heroes but the difference is just that; marginal. If you’re not digging the increased difficulty then you can (and really should) turn it off with no real consequences.
I always play on Veteran, mainly to prevent myself from falling asleep. It’s just there if some people want an extra challenge in the first difficulty and it’s not mandatory at all.
If you just want to rush to Elite, go for Normal. And no, you are not gimping your toon.
Definitely not. Usually I would advice to start on Veteran, because this makes transition to Elite more smooth, but it’s completely fine to play on normal.
I’m almost certain hit points have been adjusted, I was tearing things up on normal and as soon as i hit vet it was taking way longer to kill stuff. That, or mobs resistances have been buffed.
I typically play on Veteran after leveling myself upto 20-23 in Crucible along with 12-15 devotion points. Normal is way too easy once you reach this point, and this gives better drops/slightly more of a challenge.
I usually level to about 50 in crucible and then blow through normal like a blowtorch through butter. Only problem is that aether formations don’t drop anything ever so I have to play the dumb “here hold this bag” trick with someone to get them.
I’ve been leveling a Commando that will use Valdun set and Veteran doesn’t seem different at all. Enemies don’t hit harder than i remember so and i always plays on Veteran.
I’m only level 18, so i’ll see if it’s any difference in later levels.
