I’m playing a witch hunter venomancer and I’m at the point where the only skills I have left to put points into are either more % damage increases to acid/poison (aspect of the guardian and merciless repertoire) or getting frailty and vulnerability for more resistance reduction and utility.
I’m assuming that, since I already have over 1500% increased poison damage, I’ll get more bang for my buck out of lowering enemy resistances than adding even more on top of that. Not to mention, you know, curse of frailty. Is that correct?
Definitely get Curse of Fraility and specially max Vulnerability. Resist reduction is a bigger boost of damage than just boosting your damage with items and passive skills.
On point - definitely work around resist reduction. For variety of reasons, all DoT builds are mostly about res reduction to function as expected.
On a side note, it’s about time of Crate to do something about this crap which is poisoning the game for so long. As far as I remember, the evolution of FOTM builds in this game has always been to follow “the path of least resistance”, literally and figuratively.
Resist reductions got to be very rare with lower numbers, and turn to a moderate damage boost, rather than keep on being a build defining mechanic.
It would be easy enough to implement a constant floor below which resist reduction can not drive the enemy resist value- whether you make that floor 0% or 50% or whatever is less important than the fact that having any floor creates a dynamic where more reduction is not automatically better.
