Updated the offline client and can not open the game whatsoever.
First test is to wipe C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Documents\my games\Grim Dawn to completely reset the game, then put files back once you’ve narrowed down the cause.
Also make sure you’re not running any modifications.
Wiping the folder did not fix it, still insta crashing. I’m using the rainbow mod but I removed it and still did not work. I can’t open the game at all, never had this before.
you happen to be using GI?
Don’t even know what gi is so I’ll assume no? hehe
Grim internals? No, just rainbow but I removed it to test.
tried disabling UPnP in options.txt?
UPnPEnable = false
It’s already set to false.
tried whitelisting, making manual exemption for game folder/exe and documents folder in anti virus or windows defender?
Just installed the hotfix and still crashing…
just realized
did you manually set it after Z told you to wipe documents folder?
or was it still present despite wiping it?
because seems off if it’s the latter
It was false by default. I wiped, still crashed, so I restored the files.
Just wiped now, crashed, went to see the file and it was true. Set to false and still crashed.
You may need to reinstall the game? Or whatever equivalent to file verification GOG has.
If I download the full game now on gog will it be the newest version? I imagine that if I install the 1.98 files I have and update it again just like I did, the outcome will be the same.
wait wait, just had an idea/experienced something myself
are you using your original/“old” GD desktop shortcut?
if so, delete it, go into the GoG GD install folder, find the “launch grim grimdawn” shortcut, and copy/use the new one (should have timestamp from today)
I was using the old shortcut. Went to the folder but only found “launch grim dawn” not double grim as you wrote. But the date was not from today. Lauched it and crashed. There’s an exe named “grim dawn” with today’s date, but it crashed too.
might be the issue then, my “launch grim dawn” (sry for the double typo) does have today’s date, and works “now” after i deleted the one i used on my desktop
and from my experience i could never launch GoG GD direct from teh normal exe but had to use the weird unique “launch Grim dawn” one
*i’ve no idea why/what the relation is, but if then the date is now new, maybe that file didn’t get updated in your install?
I’m downloading it again, but my internet is terrible right now so it might take the whole day.
