Inventory Management

I finally got around to installing one of the available inventory management programs (inventory assistant, thanks Slipperypete, works great!) and man has it been enlightening. I know the devs have defended the stash size by claiming it forces the player to make meaningful decisions about what to keep and what to scrap, but i could not disagree more. Inventory management is a fucking chore, not some kind of mini-game. I never thought about it until now, but the main reason I’d get burnt out on my characters all around the same point in the game wasn’t from boredom, it was because they all had full inventories i didn’t want to deal with. THE LIMITED STASH SIZE WAS LITERALLY DRIVING ME AWAY FROM THE GAME. The devs can defend their decision all they want, but from a business standpoint, they’re wrong*: Unlimited stash space isn’t going to deter anyone from playing the game, limited stash space, however, quite possibly has and will.

I know there have been more than enough threads about this topic already, but I’ve generally avoided them. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the matter. I assume they will never change the stash at this point, and it honestly doesn’t matter, as there will always be infinite stash management programs available for GD. Just something to think about in the future.

*unless the cost to develop a larger stash is incomprehensibly large, which i highly doubt.

two things, do not extrapolate from how you feel about something to everyone else.

Now that you have the assistant, don’t you still need to manage your inventory though (which now includes the items in the tool) ? Do you just dump them in and never use them again ? In that case, why not simply sell them ?

You do not need to do housekeeping because you run out of space, but I assume you still compare items and try to see which one to get from the tool in order to equip it…

you could have done that in one of the existing threads just as well

I’m a fairly organized person irl, but managing the inventory in GD feels like work. Using the assistant is actually enjoyable to me.

I use the tool as well, and it is organized. Alphabetical order, can choose what type of gear, what type of stats they give… list goes on a little.

I did not have inventory problems, but I enjoy the fact that I can throw all the gear I keep in there and not worry about it anyways.

For anyone talking about stash space, it is a great tool to use.

Same here, stopped playing for a couple of days until I installed IA because of it.
As I said elsewhere they made a design decision in favor of people overwhelmed with too much space, to the detriment of people overwhelmed with too little.
With the former being a legendary creature only heard from in old wives’ tales as far as I can tell. And the latter being doomed to moan about it on forums across the internet for all eternity.
