There are a lot of items that give +% to electrocution damage but not - i don’t think - many that give a base amount - only the sparkbolt arbalest. Does this give enough to be the basis for a viable build? There are a few skills that deal electrocution damage (stun jacks), which might provide another route?
Well, any time you’re converting physical damage into lightning damage, you’re also converting Internal Trauma into electrocution damage, so there’s that. Stormcaller’s Pact, while far from the absolute best Exclusive Skill out there, is still pretty solid and is probably relevant to your interests. You can probably make a decent “electrocution” build with a mix of Shaman and (insert class here - probably Soldier or Demo), it will also likely just happen to do a lot of Lightning damage as well. Which makes sense, as they’re pretty much joined at the hip.
? Conversion absolutely affects the DoT counterpart. Can be seen on the character sheet, even. Phys/IT converts to Fire/Burn flawlessly, for example. Only in cases where there simply ISN’T a DoT counterpart (see: Aether and Chaos) does the DoT counterpart remain unaffected.
Thanks. That’s interesting and useful to know! So I’d need to find some base IT damage dealers. I’m going for Elementalist, as there are a few electrocute lines in Demo that might scale up. The question is whether the base damage from the crossbow will be enough to get overall damage up there with the other options (although it will also be doing plenty of lightning damage I expect).
Just remember one very important thing: when you’re doing conversion-oriented builds, DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH OF YOUR DAMAGE YOU ARE CONVERTING (this is very important) any % bonuses to Phys/IT are potentially a waste (Bonuses are calculated after conversion IIRC). You probably won’t get to 100% conversion with Lightning/Electrocution, but you can probably get up to/over 50% conversion.
Thanks. So you would need a weapon that does heavy internal trauma damage and also converts it to lightning (electrocute)? Does such a weapon exist? A stormcharged warrior’s thingummy of ruin?
Focus on affixes that give lightning/electrocution bonuses and conversion from phys to lightning. I mean, you CAN get some flat IT/phys damage to convert from certain affixes, I think… would have to check Graceful Dusk or whatever to be sure about that. Whether that’s the best use of an affix, though, idk. I mean, it’s not like you can really choose what affixes are going to spawn anyway, it’s going to be a matter of what you can find.
Only elemental build that I haven’t tried. I believe it would work you just have to remember that you have to stack different sources of “Electrocute” damage.
An Elementalist with “Light Defender’s” set using Wind Devil, Savagery/Might of the Bear, Stun Jacks, Stormcaller’s Pact aura. You also need a few procs such as Reckless Tempest which is a “must have” as the Tempest devotion is one of the few sources of +increased duration in the devotion map.
Once you have 3-5 stackable sources you then need to focus on OA and +%crit damage. Which you’ll already have a healthy supply if you max Stormcaller’s Pact.
I would probably consider it viable. But haven’t tried it. Namely because I don’t have the “light defenders” set.
Yeah I’ve not had a sniff of any light’s defender kit!

Your skills seem all over the place. Having Elemental Storm and Raging Tempest is not a good idea as the resist reduction do not stack. The electrocute bonuses do however. So it’s a trade-off. Primal Strike does not have any flat “electrocute” bonuses so you’re better off with Savagery. Mortar Trap does not have any “electrocute” bonuses either. You can use Grenado but only the last modifier “shattering blast” and the transmuter would be worthwhile.
Yeah they are a bit! Thanks for the advice. Was thinking of switching to Savagery but was making the most of Primal Strike 2H feature. Will give this a go! I’ve reached level 58 now and there’s quite a lot more decent gear available from that point.
PS I’m quite squishy - is my DA or health too low?
