I was theorycrafting a paladin and I noticed something weird on the sheet 2 damage breakdown of GT.
If you notice, with the pack of treacherous means, I have a grand total of 140% elemental --> pierce conversion.
The rimetongue chest piece also converts 30% of lightning damage to cold.
I’ve always understood that elemental conversion occurs before the conversion of any one of its 3 subtypes.
In other words, I would have thought that ALL my conversion would first be converted to pierce, and there would be none left over to be converted to cold.
Yet there’s a small 95 cold damage left over in the break down.
It’s nothing serious, and I doubt it’ll affect the build in anyway, but I just don’t understand how/why there’s leftover cold damage.
:undecided:
EDIT: Also just realized that justice gloves is probably BiS here.
That’s awkward,if you really have cold damage left, that means conversion happened simultaneously. But elemental should be prioritized and convert everything to pierce hmmm:undecided:
I posted a bug a while ago where the order of conversion of elemental depended on the order of equipping the items.
So if you equip the RT chest piece first, you get that conversion first.
Elemental does have its own step and it is usually not an issue due to the multiplicative nature with the 3 individual elements, but occasionally there are these issues on a diverging conversion.
It might be that after re-login the elemental step takes priority by default… but I never bothered to test that. I am uncertain where the order of conversion interpretation originated.
GT is still the same - 2x oathbreakers + Pack of treacherous means
2 issues: #1. The cold damage
I can confirm with hammyhamster that conversions occurring at the same level depends on the sequence you equip your items. I.e. By taking off my chest piece and putting it back on, the cold damage vanished
#2. The physical damage
I have more than 100% armor piercing. For the life of me I can’t figure out where this flat physical is coming from.
It also increases when I use steel resolve, or when ulzaad’s decree is procced. So my guess is that not all the damage is being converted to pierce?
I suspect it is a bug. You have +1100% physical damage with cunning bonus. That means you have less than 1 physical damage coming from somewhere. Since you have no conversion into physical and nothing grants less than 1 phys damage it seems likely to be something going wrong with armor piercing.
Does the physical damage disappear if you unequip pack of treacherous means?
Until recently I wasn’t aware that elemental->X and say fire->X conversion are not applied at the same time, so in GT elemental is split, then summed with component types and then converted.
GT tools incorrectly does it at the same step, irrc. But usually it is not a problem unless you are diverging the conversions. The multiplicative nature of converging types usually makes it a non-issue.
