Hi, newb player here. Runnin through the expansion on veteran atm. Is it actually worth it to level up when you have bad luck finding gear?
I’m a melee lvl 62 char and just can’t survive/sustain boss fights so i thought that farming gear is the best to cap my resistances since i have a few weak slots with low armor and such. However when i’m farming it’s like i’m getting experience and if i level up monsters get harder and they beat me up again.
Is suiciding before leveling up a good strat here?
just run through the main game up until ultimate, you would be in your 60ties anyways when you are at ultimate, and then you can start the farming from there.
But AoM just have really bad scaling. and you really don’t get anything useful in that area anyways. Yes you can get some devotionshrines but not really worth the hassle i think.
There is no need to cap your resistances in normal / veteran, nor is there really a need to farm.
Get your relevant resistances (varies depending on where you are) up to somewhere in the 30s to 50s from enchantments and components and call it a day.
If the gear you find and that is not enough, rethink your build and strategy (do not expect to face-tank everything…). Also, consider using normal instead of veteran.
Have to agree with mamba on resists/not farming in Normal/Veteran. If you build and develop a character well enough, neither of these are required.
Can you show us your character via grimtools build calculator? It’ll allow us to make suggestions on how to improve your character so you have an easier time playing.
I would skip the Ashes areas until you have learned more about the game and char building. When you have killed Log in Elite, you can go back and try the Ashes acts on Elite.
It took me a while to beat the ashes acts without dying (too much at least) (I play all my chars self-found up to killing Master of Flesh in Ultimate)
Well it should be more difficult after killing Loghorran.
But yes I think it is broken the scaling. the damage doesn’t scale the same way like through the main game, so in that regard you can’t predict the damage you are going to receive.
I would say it is a step-up for sure, but not impossible if you are more experience with the game (I guess that is why the option of going to next difficulty is still after killing log)
AoM isn’t difficult but its scaling is definitely broken compared to the rest of the game.
But that’s because the first 4 acts have just been nerfed over and over and over again.
The game definitely could have a better difficulty progression.
Playing the first 4 acts is like playing a completely different game because how easy it is now a days.
Thankfully it won’t be a huge issue anymore since we won’t be required to play standard or elite difficulty anymore.
It is harder but not broken in the slightest. AoM was also made purposely harder because you can skip it in the first two difficulties.
The difficulty is also blown out of proportion and it’s only hard if you don’t know absolutely nothing about the enemies you are facing there. Just the basic knowledge of it and you breeze through it like the base game. I know this because i actually played beta AoM and the scaling was for a time out of wack but i still finished with level 68-75 gear on Ultimate just fine.
Hey thanks for the replies, i was just having troubles with certain bosses and some specific damage types. Specially on the skeleton key area in the expansion some boss fired 3 bolts at me which took me from 9k health to 0. The last boss on the sleton key area on homestead also rekt me in like 2 hits when i tried that.
I know those areas are supposed to be hard but just wasn’t specting dying in 2-3 shots. The kraken boss also smashed me quite fast.
It’s just like some heavy hits which take 50% health or so. Even when pressing the lifestealers oil for recovery just can’t outregen the damage and it’s hard to run away sometimes because i stop leeching with attacks so it feels worse.
Will try to skip some of the nasty areas and get better loot on elite after i complete the expansion. Having a better time now with a range weapon that i found and feels safer to play ranged. Ty for the advice.
