I’m using the default with shears, quick cut and whirling death but so far it doesn’t kill things as fast as using skills like cadence, savagry, fire strike ect
Are they only good with skills like firestrike and savagry or does it get better at higher levels ?
I have never used duel weapons before. I’m too used to shields
I too have been experimenting with this, and while it works, the default attack seems underwhelming. Idk what type of dmg you are going for but Im currently using a blessed steel in my main hand, and switched my default to sacred strike, and it defiantly helps alot. has like a 3 second cool down, but it hits really hard and compliments the DW skills.
What’s your second class? I can’t think of any reason not to pair it with some kind of default attack skill. If you’re a blademaster there are items like the Mistborne talisman that give you skills to replace your default attack.
Have you invested heavily into Dual Blades? With Dual Blades the default attack is okay…but you are still doing yourself a disservice by not getting a Mistborn Talisman.
Although at this point the dual blades line is likely below skills like Fire Strike as far as total DPS goes. (when comparing the two separately point for point)
I’m playing a witch hunter melee and using mainly vit damage. I could use mistborn talisman but it’s not a very strong relic stat wise or it’s bonuses.
You should aim for the Shard of Beronath component. The skill it gives is quite good. Also look at the Blademaster builds in the build compendium (they also use the Shard).
Shard of Beronath can only be crafted, so you gotta find the blueprint for it. The item requires level 55 to use, and I think the blueprint is found only on level 60 and above monsters. If you really want, I have the crafting recipe for it, plus some stored away. I could give you one if you’d like. Whether through swapping transfer files or in game is up to you.
Something to note. If you run Occultist, you generally want Curse of Frailty maxed out at 10/10, which gives it -50% movement speed and a very large casting area, so it hits lots of enemies. Vulnerability maxed too if you’re running Vitality/Acid/Elemental damages.
For your build, i can recommend a couple of things. If you want a good Vitality build, this has worked out well for me. Instead of using regular attack, Phantasmal Blades is your primary attack. Heart Seaker has some significant vitality damage, and Nether Edge gives great cold and chaos damages for good secondary types. With lots of casting speed, Blades becomes a great source of healing with Damage>Health, as well as Sigil of Consumption.
If you really want to run an attack speed based build, I would suggest this. So far it’s been tearing through stuff like crazy. There’s a significant amount of endgame equipment for it. Plus, both Vulnerability and Night’s Chill decrease Acid resistance on enemies, meaning more damage, as well as at least two good end game items that have abilities that do the same. With my current build, once I get high enough level, I’ll be able to get -147% Poison/Acid resistance on enemies at once.
If either of these interest you, I can give you info on what equipment I plan on using and such.
Wow thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it but I’m playing fully self found. I will have to farm for the shard blueprint later.
And thanks for the info, I will max out curse too as I didn’t have that planned before. Btw on your second build you posted it looks a little like mine but you use dreeg evil eye as well as nightblades auto attack, why ? And I have a decent amount of gear, only good end game piece though is this - https://gracefuldusk.appspot.com/items/8210-Girdle-of-Stolen-Dreams
Here, I decided to make a post of the build I’ve been playing with, if you wanna try it. http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35167
It does make use of that belt. And I made a version that isn’t dependent on equipment if you don’t think you can find all of what you need.
