Hello All,
As a long time Titan Quest and Immortal Throne fan I must say I am quite embarrassed to just now find out about this game. Thanks to the banner in TQDefiler I’m here. Like most of you I am excited as hell and I want to be part of it. I didn’t hesitate to become a Legendary contributor. I’m so excited that they are utilizing this amazing engine that blows away sad Diablo clones like Torchlight. This engine is almost five years old and still the best Diablo clone to date, and easily the best looking of all action-rpgs.
I like to share some thoughts since I am a long time Rogue-like RPG connoisseur:
- [li]Ability Variety: Ability variety is key to these games and I really hope crate takes note of not only other Diablo clones but also DOTA and it’s clones. Each of these games have 50+ heroes to choose from and there are really cool creative and unique abilities I think would translate well into action RPGs. Abilities such as Chrono’s time stop from HON, Pudge’s Grappling hook from DOTA, or Akali’s Shadow Dance from LOL.[/li]Just for note my favorite ability from TQ was Shield Bash :D.
- Closed Servers: While I’m greatly saddened there will be no online character storage I understand the financial constraints. I really hope Crate can afford this once the original release becomes a success. As I understand Torchlight is going this route. I really think that it is the best way to reduce piracy and prolong the life of a game.
- Reduced Potion Reliance: I think the biggest problem with most Diablo Clones is the reliance of Potions. I don’t want to be allowed to pop 20 potions to down a boss. For example boss fights in Diablo 2, and yes TQ too, were a product of how many potions one has. Potion use should be a strategic choice based on limited availability and long cooldowns. And one would think chugging gallons of an alchemists potent health juice should have detrimental affects :D. I would love to see things like minute cool downs and make it so potions can only be found. Sure perhaps those suggestions are perhaps a bit extreme but you see my point. It would make the game feel more Rogue-like and challenging, not just a click fest.
- Uniquely Looking Armor: Probably my favorite part of TQ was it’s named and uniquely looking armor and weapons. Not only would we see the legendary gear on our toons but we could see them on an enemy as well before it drops. Nothing cooler than running through mobs then spotting a skeleton warrior wearing Achilles Armor. I am assuming this will continue in Grim Dawn but I haven’t found confirmation of this in the forums yet.
Anywayz the game is looking great so far and I’m looking forward to Alpha!
