Legendary farming in DAIL question.

I’m loving this DAIL compilation mod, but was wondering if Survival and/or DGA are good ways to farm legendary items and components. I just beat elite last night, but haven’t started ultimate yet with any of my classes. I wanted to know for future reference and to see if they were viable alternatives to gear up. Does anyone have any insight into this?

If you’re on a mode higher than NG like B or S then the campaign will probably be better farming due to the increased hero spawns (mode doesn’t affect spawns in Survival/DGA), not to mention access to Omega levels, Omega nemesis, and Lost Treasures. The DGA set is quite good though, so it can be worth doing just to get the highest level of that. I have no experience in Survival so I couldn’t say if it’s really worth doing, but I hear there are some unique drops that are very good there and that you can get extra stat/skill points from it (someone please correct me if I’m wrong here).

Survival is bad for legendaries, but good for the extra stat and skill points (complete the first 45 waves on all three difficulties).

If you play with density higher than vanilla Grim Dawn then Warden runs are extremely good for farming legendaries. Actually, I’d say they’re too good - once you learn the usual spots for packs of hero mobs you’ll be laughing (ignore trash, just kill heroes and Warden).

I haven’t tested the A2 wasp route that people use in vanilla too much. Cronley runs are terrible. Areas with Aetherial wisps tend to be reasonable because DAIL craps out dozens of the boss versions - but I’ve never actually farmed them because I just don’t like the way those areas look :-p

Generally speaking I think hunting down Nemesis is lousy for loot in DAIL. But efficiently blasting through the Omega quest line takes in some areas with decent hero density, both the rogue-likes and a load of bosses. With the big advantage of earning Omega points which are really powerful in the long-run.

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I will concentrate on farming places with a high density of hero mobs. I wasn’t aware that doing warden runs was so good. What about steps of torment or bastion’s chaos? Are those not worth it anymore? I am playing in S mode btw.

I’ll make sure to do the omega stuff once I get my new character to ultimate. I’m still a little confused on this whole omega thing. What exactly does doing omega quests net you?

Omega levels. Think of them as Paragon levels from D3. You get orbs that you spend like points at the Omega quest giver on various buffs you want and then have the NPC cast those buffs on you. They last forever so you get them once a session and then leave them be.

IMO the two rogue-like dungeons are not particularly special in DAIL.

With Warden runs it seems to be something or other about the way clusters of aetherial heroes spawn together, you can see it elsewhere in the game. And there are half a dozen rooms on the way to the Warden that are prone to having such packs. (and it’s a quick run, and the Warden fight itself has a bunch of heroes).

Two things I’ve considered testing, but haven’t got around to. 1. The tree just outside Devil’s Crossing. 2. Backwards from the blacksmith quest giving dude rift. I’m fairly sure that big pack of mobs and bosses spawn just inside the cave, right? There are probably some other terrific locations right next to some rifts that I’m just not familiar with.

Hey,
i just have done one Char in DAIL. Hes lvl 92 though and completed the vanilla game in all three difficulties. As far as i can tell ( I’m playing SX and cant say anything about the other Game Modes ) you can easily get Legendarys at the start in lower Crossing. Just below the rift before the Bridge ( if you come from the tree after the bridge ) there is a hughe spawn which drops several blues and some purples ( mostly crappy jewelry though ). Also i dropped quite some legendarys in elite. While i completed ultimate i didnt switch out every slot. I think my Boots are still out of end of elite and my armor is mid elite. Also my Itemlvl is still at 62 or something. In the End i recommend just play though. There will be enough drops that you dont have to do deticated farming and besides with the unlocker every blue/purple can be the right one for your build not really counting the base stats. ( Also i REALLY recommend you check out the secret vendor near Bloodgrove… )

I recommend doing some tree-runs (between Devil’s Crossing and first rift) for some quick epics/legendaries.
Although the loot table is a bit broken in 60.6 so you currently see some items drop a lot while others don’t drop at all.
I think Kath mentioned it’s fixed in 60.7 - so hold off farming anything until that version is out
