Hello everyone.
I am thinking that the modding is going to explode as time goes on and the TQ people and some new people start coming out of the woodwork.
I think its a good time to start talking about curating the mod compilations that people are going to inevitably make. the mods that people are popping out right now are looking amazing and really inspired. However; if we are being honest with ourselves, we know they will be more fun as compilations. Whats an extra mastery from x without the new dungeons from y and z?
Mainly I see them being focused around extra masteries to start, and eventually some of the better dungeons and other mods that start appearing.
IMHO, for now we should talk about fitness testing the new masteries for fitness in a mod compilation since people are making them already:
-
do the skills lend themselves towards different playstyles? if the mastery is completely focused on “one thing” and all of then skills support it, then it needs more work IMHO. the current base masteries are not setup this way and that is what makes them so interesting.
-
did they include some transmute skills ? IE. let’s say I make a monk mastery. I should have some punch attack, then two transmute options on the tree. one for making the attacks into chaos from say, aether. and another to reduce damage by 90% and reduce re use by 100% (most of the existing masteries have stuff like this)
-
did they include some really useful passives that might play well with other classes?
-
general feeling of how OP or not the new class/mastery is (no opinion here… this one should be a discussion)
later we should discuss dungeon and item expansion fitness testing as well. If I make a dungeon full of treasure troves. it shouldn’t be included in certain types of compilations…
And of course, overall we should also come up with some standards for this so we can grade the mod compilations as
- (EMC) easy mode compilation (will be a common one)
- (CVBI) crate vision/balance intact - additional content compilations
- (RHMC) ridiculous hard mode compilation - grimmest type mods combined with mandatory hardcore mode etc type of stuff.
- (SCC) super cheating compilation - stuff like x10 everything and weaker enemies etc
- etc (???)
and just be honest in your compilation names, if you are including mods that remove caps, making enemies easier, etc etc, just call it an easy mode compilation. (EMC)
and finally. mod creators; please give permission for others to use your stuff in their mods. granted they give you credit. your mod will get more play/testing/love if it is included in a really well curated compilation.
