LF starting melee build

Hi, this is (another) post about advice on picking a build to go through the game and get into ultimate end game.

I am looking for a melee build, either sword and board or dual wield, no 2h, and I don’t mind playing op build, just want to destroy the game haha

I intend to play HC and obviously have no access to gear so something that can be started from scratch.

If you guys could link me to a build guide from this section that corresponds to what I am looking for that would be nice, thank you for your help.

Get sword & board build, then. Even in SC, with very good gear, it isnt easy to survive now…
I’d adviced Witchblade (physical). Most points come into Soldier, and Occultist just provides few buffs/debuffs (Aspect of Guardian and Curse of Frailty are 2 most important).
It may be not the most damaging build, but his DPS is still solid.

Look for Superfluff’s Markovian Commando. It is easy to play with that one. Only in Ultimate you have to really worry about gear. but by then you can farm Krieg, Cronley and Steps of Torment.

Yeah, Commando is pretty the same character. The difference is that you trade Curse of Frailty and Aspect of Guardian for Temper and Blast Shield.
I prefer Witchblade, because he is less gear-dependant (free 100% poison res), has better damage (due to -25% phys resist from curse) and has reliable defences.
Commando is easier to play (less active skills), though his defences arent so realiable (fumble is RNG and blast shield has CD).

Okay guys, thanks for the help

Blademaster can also play similarly to Witchblade with a faster cooldown on the heal and a boost to your evasion (PB and SD) at the cost of the resist reduction from CoF and free resists from AotG. I ran both and decided I liked the BM better around 45 so I don’t know how they stack up at ultimate levels, but my BM is around 30k dps with maxed resists and about 13k health iirc (at work so I can’t check)

Or you could try the dw fire commando build, if it sounds interesting I’ll get the link a bit later don’t have it right now or remember who wrote it… Basically you can buy pure fire blades that will rock stuff hard. I died on lvl 69 because I clicked an exit and then started looking at the TV, when I looked back I was dead. it’s really fun and fast.

Why make a DW commando, if DW Saboteur does the same thing, but much, MUCH better? Saboteur has Nightblade’s WPS line, that makes a perfect combo with Fire Strike. And Demo already has a skill to reduce DA anyways…

Sorry I meant saboteur not commando

maybe because you don’t like nightblade as a class. And you dont want to use fire strike because Cadence hits like a truck but you dont want to use a shield. And BWC High Potency helps relieve your lack of AOE.
There are many ways to play a build, doesn’t have to be the most obvious way all the time. DW doesn’t have to use nightblade.

DW melee HAS to use nightblade, sorry. Caster or ranged doesnt, indeed, because caster just needs stats from 2 weapons, and for ranged DW, Nightblade’s WPS skills dont work.
For melee DW, Nightblade’s WPS are just too powerful, there is no reason to use DW over 1-h+shield or 2-hander without those awesome WPS…
If you use Cadence, why go dual-wield at all? Why dont just equip a shield, and have almost the same real DPS, but far higher tankiness?

No it doesn’t there are many DW melee builds that don’t use nightblade. I already explained 1 such build. There are also DW melee Elementalist. DW melee conjurers, DW melee sorcerers, DW melee pyromancers and DW battlemage.
Again just because you aren’t using them doesn’t mean they aren’t being used. Any cadence build can be DW, they don’t need wps skills at all. Firestrike and savagery also can be used with Soldier wps and gear wps skills. They also can be used with no wps skills, getting aoe from proc and other skills.

You’re entire post is just your opinion on DW, and sorry but your opinion isn’t fact.

True! DW Warder can be pretty potent too. The WPS are mighty, but not needed to make DW builds work out just fine.
