Lightning caster is outdated?

Hi all!
I just bought this game yesterday and i want to try first char base on lightning skill
What class should i play? Vindicator caster with storm box is outdated or Lightning warder?

not outdated, they are totally fine, pretty darn good actually

whichever you enjoy the most/think might be the most fun :+1:

Thank bro! I think i will try Vindicator caster if it’s not outdated

Well, Vindicator as lightning sharpshooter would probably be stronger, but lightning caster is OK too.

Lol… maybe i should play a sharpshooter like the first char in grim dawn

You can try both sharpshooter and caster during leveling, respeccing skills is easy and cheap (gets more expensive after a certain amount of respecced points though).

Well, you can try it with Primal Strike in the early-mid game, and Savagery+all your WPS (besires Upheaval) in the late game.
Levelling with Primal Strike is one of the fastest anyways.

If i want to play a dw ranged char
Which class is the best to play? Should i use cadence or rightous fervor

Righteous Fervor is the best for ranged DW.
You should probably choose Oppressor and aim for Vitality damage, or Warlord and aim for Physical.
Why Necromancer/Soldier and not Inquisitor? Inquisitor’s WPS lean towards 2-handers (only Bursting Round is stronger with DW, while his two most powerful WPS - Chilling Rounds and Storm Spread - are far stronger with 2-handers). That’s why 2-h savagery Vindicator is so strong.

But i can’t find warlord leveling guide for rightous fervor
It just have only cadence warlord leveling guide

Just get yourself an Obsidian War Cleaver and use Forcewave (with transmuter). You can get the weapon early in a sidezone up from Broken Hills rift (Corrupted Tomb). Obviously, you can spam Forcewave even without it, from your very first levels…
Levelling with Righteous Fervor or Cadence is just a pain the ass…

I’m following dw ranged cadence warlord in the beginning list

I’m sorry I sound unwelcoming, but try playing without a guide. It really is possible. This way you’ll understand the game better, have more stories to tell and achievements will feel truly earned. If later you realise you assigned some points wrong, it’s quite easy to fix that in this game.

Many thanks for your advise
Because this is the first time i play this game, i need some guide before i can do it without guide

It’s possible, but if you have a shallow understanding of game mechanics you’ll probably make a lot of mistakes and have to struggle a lot. I remember my first char in GD was melee DW saboteur, and man, it was really awful to play… My next one was 2-h Forcewave one, and they were worlds apart.
I’d suggest to keep a guide in your mind, but still make some your own tweaks according to your understanding and items available. A proper guide should provide you with some undestanding of how and why the build works, that’s the most important part, actually.

From my own game experience, DW builds are pretty bad for levelling, and they reveal their strength only in lategame with good items. I mean proper DW builds, not ones merely wieding two weapons for stats only. Although even in lategame DW builds tend to be on the weaker side, but, at least, the difference isnt that great.

Only the first playthrough can be blind.

Sure, my first character was weak too, but he remains my favourite. And everything he achieved tasted so much better.

my first char was awesome (blademaster)
by no means meta strong or optimized, but going through the campaign i never had that sense that it was awful and i should use a guide or make another char
my 3rd character gave me that feeling, Battlemage, sword and board elemental cadence battlemage, now that sucked

anyway @Minh_H_u_Nguy_n_H
just pick any physical warlord guide and retrofit it to use Righetous Fervor and sandspitters, or take any Oathekeeper guide that uses Righteous Fervor and retrofit it to dual wield sandspitters
^if you wanna go dual wield ranged the weapon that matters during levelling is Sandspitter pistol, as for righteous Fervor approach itself it’s simple enough like most phys warlods, only difference here is your main skill maxed is RF and Smite, Zolhan and Markovian wps gets points, rest is basically the same (excluding 2h and shield buffs ofc)
