First off let me say I am absolutely loving the game overall and this is feedback from my first day with around 8 hours play time and about 30 hours of watching time online prior to release. I’ll potentially be updating this as I play more. I know some of these may overlap with other threads so apologies for any repetition.
Bugs:
-
I saw this one mentioned but wanted to reiterate - Alerts getting stuck on screen. This is when an (!) alert in the top left appears and is clicked on. When the icon disappears the expanded text gets stuck and remains - for me no button clicking would remove it but when a new (!) alert icon appeared I could expand and minimize the text for that to remove it.
-
Small modelled objects like young trees, bushes and rocks to be harvested/cleared becoming stuck at the very edge or overlapping with buildings. I have had this happen a few times and no amount of ordering will get my villagers to clear the object (potentially as they cannot reach them?). It looks quite silly to have an object stuck on the side of my buildings and it seems the villagers cannot remove them at all.
Feedback/ideas:
-
Moving/deleting empty graveyards should be possible

I like that lots of the villagers try to help when a fire occurs (although sometime it seems like overkill with people very far away running to help when there are already 30 closer people dealing with it), but I really dislike that when the fire is done everyone just drops their water bucket and gets on with their day and my city is littered with 50 buckets of water.

When you increase the UI scale some text starts to disappear offscreen (e.g. the top of the text for radishes in farm plots) and many of the openable menus start half off screen (e.g. trade depot screen). It would be nice to be able to have larger UI without parts of it disappearing and maybe the option to lock the position of where certain screens pop up so I don’t have to keep moving it on screen to be visible. This option to lock a screens position could also help the frustrating overlap between the building menu and the currently selected building as often I want to look at both but cannot as one covers the other. To add - this is at 1.3 ui scale on a 2560x1440 screen.

I think the idea of having a more complex and less linear upgrade tier system is interesting. However, the ability to make buildings with requirements in higher tiers doesn’t really make sense unless there is a more consistent way to obtain the resources. I would really like to see something like being able to send out your own traders with funding to seek specific materials (rather than always having to wait for people to come to your trade depot and hoping they have what you need). As it stands though the mismatch of goods and production buildings just feels janky.

At the moment the amount of information available to the player sometimes feels lacking. I would love to see warnings for villagers that are constantly idle as well as an information screen just on my villagers - being able to see what professions are being done by who and what level of education that person has etc. Being able to see exactly who each villager is, how old they are, what their education and profession is, what they are currently doing etc. would be really helpful. Especially if you are able to sort each of these columns to really help planning and organising.

Not everyone may agree with this one, but to me the ability to close off building slots seems an unnecessary overlap with the profession screen’s ability to add or remove workers from buildings. If the ability to open/close building slots was available on the profession screen this might be simpler but at the moment having to find the building to decide how many slots you want open seems like an over complication.

I’ve also noticed that many of the foraged goods remain in areas where buildings or roads are almost on top of them. This is a minor point, but it seems unlikely birds would continue to nest basically on top of my roads and buildings (especially my industry area). I don’t want the resources to disappear necessarily but it would make sense to be able to actively relocate them or have them do so naturally.
I’m sure I’ll have more to add but these are just some thoughts for now.
Cheers,
D
Edit - grammar error and added my settings for ui feedback
Edit 2 - added another point
