I realized pretty much every character I ever made, even the gun bunnies were built for facetanking, so I started leveling an Elementalist to try something different. With that said, I have no real experience in end game with that sort of thing because every time before by mid-game I’d start getting gibbed and go back to facetank builds. So…I think I have a viable build, even though it started out as a gimmick, but since I haven’t any end game experience I’m worried it’s going to get blown up and I don’t know where or what I should maybe change. And the hours of farming to reach end game to find out I’m getting blown up, followed by “maybe I just need the full set to make it work” followed by more hours, followed by finding out then that it just isn’t viable hurts me. Internally. Traumatically.
Mulberry version 8.0:

6 Storm Totems with lightning on crit devo, wind devil and thermite mine for damage and -resist, elemental storm. Wendigo totem mostly just because, and because I had some +levels and hate not making use of them. Storm Shard from set because I really needed one more temporary summon to run in circles around. Grasping Vines because I can pretend I’ll have time to cast it in between resummoning 6 storms and 3 wind devils plus thermite and shard.
Things I’m worried about:
Not much stun resist, no petrification or freeze. I’m HOPING I got him just beefy enough not to get spiked, but I feel like that’s where my lack of experience end game with squishies comes in. Slow resist and entrap resist, because I feel like getting perma slowed and long duration trap are the bigger risk? Are they? Not much life leech resist, but I’m thinking the idea is to not be hit and don’t stand in stupid. Does that actually work for the bosses that LL resist matters for?
Elemental Seekers on Wind Devil, elemental storm on storm shard which I think is going to end up more of an afterthought to cast. Not sure it’s the best choice, but not having 100% on the deci-second casting of seekers hurts my feelings. Honestly dropping the entire devotion so I can respend some of the stuff spent on reaching it might be better but…but…but…high tier devo…
I’m actually surprisingly solid on resists, assuming years of farming and I actually get those pants. (and I have no idea on if they/the other greens actually roll to those levels, but we’ll see.) I could rework without the pants and still cap out, I think, but not seeing any legendary pants options that really scream necessary to me and it would eat up a lot of components and augs I was able to put towards energy regen and offense. Over by the value of the purified salt on aether, but decided I kind of liked the rest of what it gives and couldn’t decide on anything better.
Speaking of offense, I’ve seen people saying 2700 for defense and I thought I was doing good getting a non-tank up to 2300 so now I’m worried I’m going to get insta-gibbed by bad luck which is exactly why I ended up building facetanks every time before.
And then just in general, I always worry I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and as far as resists/defense/etc would be better with a complete tear-down and stacking them in a different direction. It’s like Tetris sometimes. I see someone’s build and it’s like with one different prefix and different components and augs they capped everything the same with the same gear but also fit in that elusive defense or stun reduction or whatever that I absolutely needed and I’m like…that’s brilliant…and then never remember how to do it when making builds myself.
Also, lol shard of beronath. Sometimes you just want to walk up and smack someone, I guess. Honestly the off-hand/weapon options didn’t feel like they were bringing much to the build.
Anyway, if anyone read all this, thanks for at least looking.
