Looking for a druid build that’s more mage than melee but all I can find are 2hand melee thunderstrikes type builds. Is that really the only viable build?
I like the briarthorn pet and I really like devouring swarm, maybe throw in grasping vines?

You could definitely make a good ranged bleed/summon build but I don’t think arcanist adds much to it. Occultist or nightblade would be better.
Uh did you somehow overlook all the classic stormcaller that have been around and popular since shaman got released?
Like TSS, ST, WD, cold lightning druid?
There are also a hundred thousand guides on that if you want someone to hold your hand.
kind of the problem tho. I started arcanist and want the skills but picked up shaman for hp buff and pet. suppose I could look up pure arcanist builds and just fiddle with it.
You can make 2hand ranged Primal Strike. For CC use Olexra’s freeze. Closer to endgame you’ll need Ulda’Jax and then Raka’Jax will be your final weapon.
Yea shaman is a good support class, especially if you play with the beam or callidors, since they are very mana hungry.
Maybe 1 point vines for its amazing devotion proc ability.
If you somehow end up with 40 points in shaman then I recommend emboldening roar, but arcanist will take up almost all of your points.
If you like devouring swarm/grasping vines, check out Retaliator’s build that is very similar to what I developed for myself, that has helped me get into elite act 4 with ease. I use the briarthorn with one point as a distraction though. Idk if there are builds that take into account both pets and devouring swarm. But this sounds like it might be what you wanted! Especially since with this build, I can often facetank packs and hammer away! It can be tricky to melee on bosses though.

EDIT: Sorry thought you meant druid colloquially, didn’t notice that was an actual class – I’m somewhat of a noob myself, first playthrough. But it still might be what you’re looking for.
