I run the Obsidian Throne, Royal Hive, Spined Cove, and Cronley’s Hideout.
-I’m thinking about giving up the Obsidian Throne. More often than not, the only mob I find is the boss. Seems like a waste of time.
-Royal Hive has been very lucrative. I typically see 4-5 heros, plus Gollus and the Hive Queen.
-Spined cove usually has 2-3 heros and a boss. It also rains Ectoplasm.
-Cronley’s Hideout is a workhorse. Aside from having the boss to farm rings, it also feeds my appetite for dynamite. I blow up most epics and some duplicate legendaries so I can go play the lottery with Etram.
Are there other spots out there than people are having luck with?
Generally the smaller location the higher hero density, which is why your Forsaken Lands run doesn’t yield many heroes.
Locations with lots of path blockers are bad. The most notorious one is Blood Grove. It’s big as well, so searching through it typically results in 3 heroes or less
Weird, but beast (including insects and non-chthonic creatures of the rift) heroes tend to spawn in groups, so you’re very likely to find 2-3 heroes at the same time if you run beast locations. Pretty much the reason I like bounties that lead to Broken Hills or Mountain Deeps or Pine Forest.
I wouldn’t skip BoC (assume you meant that instead of Obsidian Throne).
Hero monsters spawn there quite often and there’s a good chance to get a Treasure Trove (near the shrine, south of the key gate and in one of the nooks on the south west) as well, and Benn’Jahr can spawn there too.
As a side-trick you can also farm the Desecrated Shrine there repeatedly if you kill the first 1-2 waves of heroes and then leave the rest without finishing them.
Usually you have 50 points before you reach this shrine on Ult, so you don’t need the point from it.
Incidentally this is one of the highest challenge multiple monster battles you can fight outside of Crucible, which makes it fun.
I really hope that in the expansion they will add similar battles like this without needing such a workaround.
